Played the demo, the presentation is one point. Love the ESPN GFX, that was awesome. However the game play remains crap, post play is horrendous and worst of all everytime I had a break away dunk the guy almost looked like he tore an ACL landing and turning around.

Happy the game is back, but it still has a long way to go before becoming relevant.

EA's live series has been dead for years , since the dreamcast! This year's NBA 2k is much improved both the physics and graphics as well as game play. Live animations are Un realistic and not fluid enough ,just like the madden series.

You must not play video games that much.
2K was a cool change from Live on dreamcast, but it wasn't an instant takeover. It took some years after dreamcast.

When Live introduced the dunk contest, everybody loved that game. The year after that game, it started to fall off. Believe that was after Dreamcast ended.

Another bad thing about Live is that nobody plays it. You can't just go up to your boys and be like "let's go play some NBA Live." They'll start looking at you crazy. You'll be playing by yourself

live was still a player until like 08. 2k had steadily been picking up marketshare tho.

i hated nfl2k. so glad they did away with that one.
RIP magnumt

thanks for everything, thibs.

Been playing the demo over the weekend and its honestly nithing compared to 2K in terms of realism and fluidity. It's as choppy and robotic as how it's always been. Even if 2K has been lazy about their development of the game it's still leaps and bounds better than Live.

Fifa is amazing. They probably dump all their resources into that game considering its their biggest cash cow. They should give up on NBA at this point

EA canada makes fifa (they used to also make the old live games up until the jesus bynum incident). It's a different studio that makes these new live games.

I was playing Live on my Gamecube at one point. Right up until about 05, it was the official NBA game around these parts. I believe 2K6 on Xbox 360 is when my friends and I made the jump. Although I will say- 2K and 2K1 on dreamcast are some of the best bball games ever. Way ahead of its time imo. Not surprised 2K eventually took the crown. But yea, Live was still cool for a while after the Dreamcast. It fell off hard once 360 and PS3 came out.

What knocked out Live was 2K being half the price of live with smoother graphics. 19.99 vs 39.99 made a HUGE difference. After you got used to 2K controls and graphics for a few years, and the next gen systems came out, there was no reason to switch back to live when the price went up. If Live was 29.99 on 360 and ps3 the last few years, focusing more on the next gen systems, there would be competition.

Never underestimate the strength of knowledge.

Bring back the physical game and send the softies home.

2k was only $19.99 for one year though.

What knocked out Live was Live turning to complete trash on the 360/PS2. 2006 was really the last time the 2 games were comparable in terms of quality.

The only time Live came close to making a comeback was when they poached 2k's lead developer for one season in 2010. He quickly returned to 2k for the next season and Live has never gotten close again.

Maybe things will be different this year, but it will take Live some time get back to where they were.

Yea the last Live game I had was 2006 with Wade on the cover. Switched to 2k after that. I played the demo for Live 15 and it was awful. Looks like this will be more of the same. I do hope 2k finds a way to make another NFL game. Madden has become so bare bones in the last 5 years when it comes to Franchise mode etc. that I can't force myself to purchase it

Dude FIFA is almost perfect this year. It's easily their best attempt ever. Cech especially is a freaking monster. Saves everything. Sanchez,Coquelin,Ramsey,Bellerin,Ozil and Walcott are all godly too.

Would be great for bball video games if EA stops putting out a horrible product as NBA 2k is getting a bit too stagnant for my tastes.
