Re: WANT A CLEAN SLATE ON REALGM?
My account was banned from the GB recently and I don’t even know why. One day I just couldn’t post. But whatever, when the season rolls around I’ll just create a new account and return to posting.

shhhh...........pretty sure that's illegal. Also you don't get warnings on the GB, you just get suspended as the form of "warning". usually last no longer than 3 days........................not that'd know

If your not that familiar with other boards, i recommend staying away from the GB. Its run by a bunch of mods with their heads up a* and/or children. Every once in while, you'll find someone level headed. but for the most part. its trouble.

I don't know if I have a "clean slate" or not, and I don't care.

If you follow the simple rule of Attack the post and do not attack the poster, people should be fine. Just don't do things in a directly derogative nature.

Re: WANT A CLEAN SLATE ON REALGM?
I've managed to stay out of trouble so far, as least as far as I can tell. The GB has a bad rep with a lot of posters, although that has always puzzled me in that I haven't noticed that it's a particularly civil place despite the rep that the mods can be touchy. I think that's the trick though, just don't go out of your way to be insulting or dismissive of others opinions.
A question I have had for quite a while is regarding the search function on the boards. When I try to use it I'm always told "Sorry but you are not allowed to use the search system." I sent a message to management about this but never received a reply. Anyone know if there are special rules about using this function? Thanks

The problem is , on the GB, the mods consistently attack posters and not post. This happens often, normally leading to a posters suspension or ban, and the mod gets off free. Also, ironically , in order for any member to gain access again, they must appeal to a board that is comprised of....................mods. So the trolling mod(possibly)or his buddy now gets to vote on whether to allow poster access or not.

I'm just a small town girl , living in a lonely world.......why can't they understand that

I can get a list of my posts if I want them, but if I want to search a subject (say Reggie Jackson) that seems harmless enough. This one really puzzles me? If you can't use it why have it even show for lowly board users at all?

I did read about having to justify why your GB suspension should be waived but I’m too old to care about my account.
Meh, the GB is a mystery but I’ll create a troll account soon enough.

Users who have been suspended have made dramatic improvements and become Moderators.
Very few Users become Moderators though and have asked over the years how they can have some of their warnings removed.
Not only will this Contest give one User a chance to get a "Clean Slate", there will be other prizes like a Warning removal and maybe even another chance for Users who have had their Signature or Avatar privileges revoked.
This contest is not for everyone but some are very interested in participating. I look forward to seeing who puts themselves out there.
whats the time frame posters would be looking at in terms of getting the "clean slate"? 30 days?
The Competition will start by October 1 and end around the start of the NBA season.

Silliness.
or they realize that they've inconsistently enforced the rules and this is their way of making things right?
they also likely want to clean up all the multiple accounts.
Don't think for a second this is some altruistic gesture on managements part. They offer the olive branch with thier true motives hidden in the fine print.
Firm numbers, for firm rates.
I doubt the number of registered user names has much to do with ad rates. More like activity at the site and number of unique active IP addresses, etc. If it was based on screen names, realgm would be hurting themselves by reducing those.

My take is you give a certain consideration to all who participate - not a lottery ticket thrown into a barrel they will almost certainly not win. As it stands, I can understand why some are skeptical.
Second and more importantly, I urge you to consider moderator reform. Many are fine, but some simply misuse their postions, often without realizing it.
1) Moderators should not participate in forums they are moderating. This is like officiating a game you are playing in. Often I have seen a mod act as a participant and then when they don't like the opinion expressed, out comes the badge.
2) Limited terms for moderators. Have them come off altogether after a period of time or at least have a limited range of service in a particular forum before they are moved to another.
3) There may be some interaction I don't see, but I also question why anyone would be dubbed a global moderator. There is the potential to harass a user between forums based on an incident elsewhere.

very interesting thoughts. i limited term though is hard. i would prefer a some kind of system to keep them in check, other than, "talk to howard".
