low risk, high (if only improbable) reward. Can't be any worse than our end of bench guys.

Multiple teams' trash is the Pistons RealGM board's treasure.

Pretty much guaranteed thread anytime a bust gets cut

He's supposedly a terrible awful defender - that's per the Wolves' fans. He's never been accused of being a hard worker. I'm pretty sure his lousy defense/not hard worker profile is not the way SVG is hoping/planning to build this team.

I prefer Pistons' DNA, and not being seduced by guys with talent who don't have that characteristic.

for the Grand Rapids affiliate? Sure

for the Pistons? No

He's going to have redefine his game. He's a defenseless undersized tweener with ok athleticism and limited range. He does not fit the mold of an energy player.

Perhaps a contending team could take a flier on him as an instant offense shot in the arm.

How bad do you have to be for the the friggin' Minnesota Timberwolves to buy you out of your rookie contract? That's like if Kwame and Darko had a lovechild with down syndrome. (apologies for the non-pc analogy - no disrespect to the special needs community intended)

In fairness, the Wolves do have a lot of front court players that need playing time. I doubt this would be a thing if they'd drafted a perimeter oriented player in the draft.

Not saying the guy doesn't suck or anything, but circumstances played a role here, namely him being on a team that didn't pick him and therefore had less pride investment in keeping him, and a team that came into another number one pick, and the best player available happened to play the same position.

He's certainly not worse than Darko was for us.

If he had a single NBA caliber skill I'd be for giving him a shot, but since he doesn't, I vote no

Stranger things have happened than Anthony Bennett figuring it out at this stage in his career. The Cavs may have reached at number 1 but in the least he would have been a top ten pick. Probably not a fit with Detroit tough.

I say sign him for cheap and hope Stanley's work ethic rubs off on him. He's got the tools to be a decent role player but needs the focus and drive.

I would absolutely take a chance on him. His skillset (or lack thereof? lol) fits perfectly with SVG's system. If he ever figured it out he could be our future PF. Obviously the chances of that are low but now would be the best time to try something like this, while we are just now kicking off a new era with a fresh young core. He would compete with Tolliver for backup PF minutes similar to how Dinwiddie and Lucas competed for the backup PG spot last year. It would be a low risk/high reward so I don't see any reason not to at least try it out.

SVG also has a way of putting guys in the right positions to succeed so I think simply playing under SVG and in his system would give him the best chance to show what he can do.

This reminds me of Piston fans thinking Arnie was going to rehabilitate and make an All-Star out of every over the hill, washed up, injury prone player to be waived by his former team.

You're half right, anyway. I don't know if this guy is NBA material as anything more than a little bench scoring. Tweener size, conditioning issues, confidence issues, defensive issues... sure, it's possible, but I doubt it. As I said, I'd have paid a mil to have him around just in case, but it's likely nothing more than a losing (very expensive) lottery ticket.
