Guys... you know Bombers is going to be... across the street, right?

Mostly kidding because that wouldn't give them an opportunity for in-arena sales, but I am sure their downtown location is going to be doing really well going forward.

paulpressey25 wrote:Oh and did I mention the seats were actually oriented towards the court.

They do that?

I wanted to second the better seating. I'm a pretty average sized 6 foot tall dude and my shins kill me after Bucks games because they are dug into the seats in front of me the whole time. I'm sure they'll fix that in the new place.

A couple things I would like to see (some repetitive)...

- I would be surprised if they didn't have an attached parking garage. I think they will heat certain areas of the garage but just block it so the outside elements (snow, wind) can't get in. And the skywalk would be heated.

- Having an area specifically for tailgating. It would most likely be used in the fall or spring. Have them pay like 50 bucks and they get up close parking and plenty of space to grill, play bags, shoot hoops, etc...

- It would be cool to get a small brewery in that actually brews beer on site. I assume all these restaurants will be on ground level so on none game days they could be visited.

- Having a suite that is slightly smaller where you can put a table in the middle with chairs around it. When I went to a Spurs game they had something like this. It has benefits of a suite but not as large so shouldn't cost as much. I think a good area for this would be on the corners or baseline. Price it so normal people can afford it.

I could write a list that is 100 items long. Hotel attached. Bowling Alley. Movie Theater. Additional Basketball courts inside/outside. Even Tennis courts or jungle gym.

I wonder if Goolsby's tries to get involved as the stadium restaurant maybe.

Wouldn't surprise me if the arena is designed like the Barclays Center in Brooklyn seating-wise.

It depends if Pat can spring for it since he recently took over Turner Hall and they basically only open for Bradley Center events.

And maybe their plan is to move to Turner Hall which would be closer to the new arena. I know Goolsby's has name recognition but we are all talking about the cold/not wanting to walk so if there are new options closer to the new arena I think it hurts their business a bit if they stay where they are.

Bombers is so small though and they can't really expand unless they buy out the silver place next door. I wouldn't be surprised if they wanted something new (and larger).

I think Goolsby's will be left out in the cold if they stay in their current location ;)

It's been there a long time but if there are a lot of closer options I can see their business dropping quite a bit where they are now.

I may be in the minority, but I feel the local brewery thing is really trendy right now and will eventually fade. A lot of the local breweries are already either expanding or having multiple locations. At what point due they no longer have that local appeal and become chains/macro brews?

I'm more concerned about layout and use of the area. Being able to host outdoor events when the weather is nice (local ordinance to all drinking on the block), and having easy access to warm parking will be huge. Whether they serve trendy beer or trendy options will all depend on keeping the site active and busy.

One option I would like explored is almost a back ally way with lots of glass and it being a heated corridor that connects a garage on the east to the area. It would allow people to walk warmly into the stadium but also force them to pass all the restaurants and entertainment options from the garage to the stadium. Since everyone walks in that way, it would create some game day buzz that you get in Lambeau's atrium. On a nice day, people will probably just meander on the square on the way to events.

Craft beers might be "trendy" but they are also a hell of a lot better than Miller/Bud. This trend would have fizzled out a long time ago if the beer sucked. It doesn't. Of course it's subjective and more people buy Miller than any craft beer. For now.

If you look at beer sales trends, which I am sure we all do every day, craft breweries are eating into major breweries sales big time. And its continued to trend that way for a few years now. I could see an Ale House type place making sense.

I don't totally disagree with MartyConlon. Craft beer is definitely cutting into the BMC profits but at what point is a saturation point met? I go into a liquor store and it is overwhelming the amount of craft breweries out there. I just don't know how they can all make it over time. BMC will start gobbling up some of these more successful craft companies, like they already have with Goose Island, Leines, etc and then some of the trendiness will become stale. On a local level I think same thing, will they all survive? Ones with restaurants and a secondary business, maybe. I know up in Green Bay we have a possible 6th one (7 if you count the Legends) in about 5-10 mile radius, it will be interesting in 10 years if they are all still here.

I agree with that. Craft beer itself is here to stay but there will be a shakeout at some point. Miller/Bud will snap some up and some will go out of business. There is a HUGE amount of them out there.

I would guess that craft beer ends up with 1/3 of the market share nationally in a few years, it's being held back by outdated distribution laws or it would be bigger right now. It's not going away, not everyone wants to drink walmart quality brew, and not everyone wants to brew their own.

I know it sounds kind of silly, but I hope the ceiling in the new arena is black instead of white. It just makes a world of difference with atmosphere/looks.

Also wanna see much better lighting.

Agreed with skywalks and the idea that as one is walking from a parking garage they will walk through a skywalk and then be connected to an indoor walkway/plaza that has ENTERTAINMENT/DINING/SHOPPING options.

So over your 5+ minute walk toward the stadium you have bars/restaurants on the sides, a couple of shops selling bucks and sports merchandise and other things, a coffee shop, a simple food stall/cart selling something, an ice cream shop, maybe a entrance toward a movie theater and/or bowling alley, before you reach the arena. So on your way there and on your way back from the arena event there are lots of spots that could spend some money and use your entertainment dollars. It also gives you reasons to be there even if there is no event in the arena.

Talking about other events like making it a spot to watch a world cup match in the summer. Some of the sports shops could be selling world cup jerseys for the folks who drove down to the pavilion, open plaza to watch the game. If you have a big music concert, maybe they switch over to Taylor Swift Tshirts. If the new Star Wars movie #8 comes out and they do a grand opening, they could be selling Star Wars stuff. Have someone build a giant lego millenium falcon in the middle of the plaza a few weeks before the movie comes out. People will be showing up in costumes and taking pictures and selfies and hanging out and eating and of course watching the premiere.

There are a zillion things you can do to make this place THE DESTINATION for all sorts of events. Sporting events, concerts, movie premieres, NFL draft day, it's endless.

How cool would it be if you are having the NCAA tourney at the arena and there's a ton of extra things to do between all the games going on. The early game finished eat something and hang out, then come back later for another bball game if you have tickets to multiple games that day.

In Hong Kong for example the malls here go crazy mad and build 30 foot tall transformers or build a mini Harry Potter world, or various holiday themes. They always do something creative to bring in traffic. And of course people take pictures, selfies, then shop, eat, watch movies at the mall.

Although the parking garage doesn't need to be heated since it's covered it's not as windy or cold.

The last thing I want to see is people getting out of a cold parking garage to walk out to a cold windy outdoor open plaza that's connected to nothing that you have to walk through and then continue that cold miserable walk until you finally get into the arena. Getting in and out of the BC in the dead of winter before/after a game to your car is one of the most miserable experiences.

This is our one chance to get it right and make it so much more, I hope they figure it out.

Craft beer is already getting stealthily bought up by big corps. Fortunately the big corps don't seem to be enforcing changes, but rather assisting with distribution.

A lot of the medium guys in the states like six point, stone, Sierra Nevada have started exporting heavily here to Aus as there's a bigger profit margin here. Those guys will survive as dumbarses like me will pay $30+ for a bottle of Stone! I think the smaller guys will really struggle as they won't have the money to diversify and are trying to sell into a saturated market.

Sorry if this has already been discussed but say that construction is not finished by the start of 2017. Would they consider (would the NBA even allow it) a mid season move if it is done by December/January '18?
