I'm tired of "Star" talk.... Its annoying... Star this, Star that....
Build a freaking contender. Having a Star player in itself doesn't guarantee you that. Just gives you someone to watch on a night in night out basis.

Future Magic Stars?
More of what we typically hear about this team. Our core guys are all talented, but there is no superstar here. There's no Durant, Lebron, Unibrow, etc...This team to me resembles a team more similar to the mid 2000's Pistons. Very deep with all star caliber talent at several positions, one problem is that Pistons team was a monster on D. The Magic don't have an identity like that. But until management makes a long term decision on the teams direction they're still in asset acquisition mode.

Do we have a Durant, Lebron, Davis type all time great? No, but that doesn't mean we don't have a superstar. I guess it depends on how you define superstar. For eample, to me, prime Joe Johnson was a superstar. Kevin Love is a superstar. I don't think its impossible for one of our guys to develop into that level of players.
That being said, I really feel that we only need a bunch of all star caliber players playing together as a unit. See Spurs 2014. we could have like 6 potential allstars. we don't know what we have in Mario and Gordon yet, so the mystery there is exciting.
Anyway I glanced over the article and I agree with the person who said its poorly written. Here's another article expecting Oladipo to break out into a star next season. http://www.si.com/cauldron/2015/09/21/nba-breakout-stars-victor-oladipo-ricky-rubio

Re: Future Magic Stars?
What god-awful journalism. You title it "In need of a savior: Orlando Magic quietly loaded with potential stars", then proceed to write an article detailing how none of our young prospects are likely to become stars. I don't have a problem with his views - many of our young guys have shortcomings that unless they are fixed are likely to prohibit them from becoming super-elite players - but is it that difficult to come up with a headline that matches the content?

The media is never consistent with Magic coverage. For every positive article you read there are four that trash them roster spot 1-12. As for the superstar argument. No doubt Prime Joe Johnson was a fantastic player, and if Oladipo gets to that level I think we'd all be thrilled, but Johnson was never a superstar in my view, which is a little more exclusive to guys like Kobe and Wade. If we have a team full of that next tier though, there's no reason for the Magic to improve and become a real dangerous team in the future.

Brought up the Harris / Skiles thing, but both Harris and Skiles say that is not a thing and never was a thing.
As for the rest of the article whether we have a superstar or not is up in the air, but we don't know if we don't yet. There are two types of superstars, the Durant / Lebron everybody knows from the get go and the Curry / Leonard type who are guys picked later but develop into a big time player. We clearly don't have the former, but we could have one or more of the latter. My odds are Gordon, Mario, Elf in that order.
