Yep I've noticed a lot less "Yankee" and "Red Sox" fans in the area in general, funny how that works.

I was at the game and the atmosphere was unreal. Stroman was perfect out there, he made it look so easy the first few innings. He was pitching so fast I would often miss the first pitch if I glanced away for even a second. 3-0 and 2 of those wins coming against the Yankees? I love this kid. The future is so bright with him on our team.

I've been super critical of Pillar but he came through big to earn our 1st run and he was great in game 2 of the series. I hope that continues because we need guys like him to step up with injuries and struggles.

Donaldson looked better last night. Still not that MVP we know but he got on base more.

Bautista had an off night but it happens.

Something has to be done about Smoak because he's been shi and letting us down a lot. Even changing up the order possibly? I don't know but Smoak hasn't been delivering.

Cecil looked good, Osuna looked good.

Loved going off with the fans, what an experience.

Seriously how are the yankees even in the race?

You realize we beat them 13-6 in games this year?

Well, sure, a .684 winning percentage against the third-best team in the AL is good, and winning 2/3 (.667) against them is fine, but why don't the Jays have a 1.000 winning percentage? Seriously?

Because they robotically beat other teams a lot? We more than did our part.

So many things to love in last night's game:

Pillar and Martin were huge.

Stroman/Cecil/Osuna were great.

JD getting out of his mini slump.

Good call by Buck saying pregame that Nova would come out with a good effort. He was great last night until his final batter. Yet that still tagged him with the loss. If he weren't a Yankee, I might feel sorry for him.

I think an interesting substory is how Girardi brought in a lefty reliever to face one batter, and that batter was Goins. This fascinated me because three months ago, no one was bringing in a specialist pitcher to face Ryan Goins. Everyone acknowledges what Goins does in the field, but the standard thinking was he sucked with the bat. Then it was, sure he had a good August, but he will cool off. And he did cool off at the start of September, but so far his OPS is .677 for the month, which I can live with. But then it was, he can't hit lefties, which is kinda true but his OBP for Aug/September is .342 in 38 PAs against lefties, and that I can live with.

And of course, Goins delivered against Pazos with 2 outs, sending Martin to 3B, who came in on Pillar's single to give Stroman the lead.

I guess my point is, if you look deep enough into this team, everyone has contributed to this amazing second half story, not just the big stars.

Because although Tanaka and Teix have been injured recently, they were healthy and very productive for most of the year.

I see your point. I put it down to Joe Girardi. They Yankees were always tough and he's the link to those Yankees teams who never gave you an easy out. Even now, I would never see a Yankees game as an easy win because they don't ever roll over.
