That line was the sole reason i posted this link. I just can't trust a pro who is getting paid 13 mil a year, who waits until his 12th year in the league to decide to eat right and get in shape. Im not buying it yet. Jefferson just doesnt have the same kind of drive that makes great players superstars and its probably the reason he's never been a winner.

that being said, he'll be better than last year, so thats a plus.

I buy it for this season only because he wants another big contract. Al will play well this year, I just hope we don't fall into the trap of signing him to some big contract and then he goes back to his old eating ways when he's comfortable again.

I know its a different sport but I always relate things to AFL footballers and someone like him would not get a contract with a team, no matter how big or good he was. They wouldn't put up with it, he has zero professionalism.

I'm not a professional athlete, and I only eat fried chicken once or twice a year. To do it during the regular season though when your team is struggling? WtF, pretty sure we demanded that he lose weight and get disciplined with his diet or we would be limiting his role. I'm glad he did it, but to be a seasoned veteran like him and still eating like that means I don't trust him to maintain this when he gets a new contract.

The miracles of Contract Year. He should always be on a 1 season contract, then.

The thing to remember that you won't ever read in the ass kissing articles that seem to praise a big fat piece of crap for intentionally being out of shape while getting paid tens of millions is that he isn't suddenly getting in shape because of his love of the Hornets, or to help out his teammates. He's doing it for himself. He's doing it to sucker some other team into giving him one more giant guaranteed payday to eat as much fried chicken as he wants over the course of the next few years. I hope he comes out and has a career year but theres no way in hell I would ever be on board with giving him another contract unless there were significant protections for the team with regards to his weight and overall level of fitness, and since that ain't going to happen I hope he ends up shoveling chicken down his throat anywhere but here after this season.

Summary of the main things we learned at media day

- Jefferson lost 25 lbs... for now
- Jefferson was eating fried chicken after every game, even while being overweight, struggling with injuries and teammates telling him not to eat that stuff
- Kemba, Batum, MKG and Jefferson will be the starters
- Starting power forward spot is up for grabs
- Hairston lost 13 lbs since summer league
- Hairston spent a few weeks with John Lucas, not sure if that was motivated by substance abuse
- Offense will heavily revolve around Batum
- Batum/Clifford compare Batum's role as similar to Hedo with Magic
- Cliff wants to play 4 out, 1 in as much as possible
- Lin has a ridiculous haircut, complete with headband
- MKG falls asleep watching film and wakes up watching film

anything else?

The popeye's chicken thing is absurd... It makes it even more disappointing that Clifford never threatened his role last season. If he was doing stuff like that on the plane then the coaches obviously knew how unprofessional he was being and that he wasn't taking his responsibilities seriously, yet he was still given free reign on the court even when his lack of conditioning and selfishness was causing him to be utterly ineffective and basically ruining our season. Hopefully people realize that I'm not just being a hater when I bash the guy and talk about not wanting him anywhere near our team.

if it was easy as "hey stop eating that stuff", there'd be less than 25% of all americans being obese (and I believe I am being conservative with the percentage).
