Brian Schmitz: Scott did you split the starters up just to get a different look?

Skiles: I don't have any starters right now

Schmitz: No starters? every job is open?

Skiles: Nope, we don't have a game yet...every spot is always open - you never know what you're going to see - I'm not trying to pull the rug from underneath some guys but we'll be playing a bunch of different lineups for at least the first few games and then we'll see where we are at

Fixed. I'm pretty sure that was Schmitz who was asking the questions about the starters.

Skiles benching Tobias confirmed.
11/18/2017 - I have officially disowned Nikola Vucevic and branded him a loser.

- Skal Labissiere was my guy in 2016 pre-trade. Whoops, but I still believe.
- Malik Monk was my guy in 2017. Whoops(?)
- Mo Bamba was my guy in 2018. TBD.

It's funny that he specifically mentioned Tobias wouldn't rebound enough to stay on the floor and that now he's better at that, yet he averaged more rebounds per 36 in his career at Milwaukee than he did last season. In both cases he mostly played small forward.

Wouldn't that stat be skewed because he was rebounding against third stringers in blowout time back then versus rebounding against starters/first reserves now? Still pretty funny though, nice catch.

Hmm good question. Intuitively you'd think it would make a difference, but maybe there's some analysis that says otherwise. He also started a third of the games in Milwaukee.

Maybe Skiles was just making **** up to try to stay diplomatic. Tobias was 6th in rebounding last season among small forwards, and although he played 40% of his time at PF according to 82games.com, so did a lot of people in front of him, like Josh Smith, Giannis, and Draymond Green (??). So that shouldn't be a problem.

Yeah, interesting stuff. That FA infographic made for him is popping into my head right now

I'm not sure how useful of a state defensive rebound % is, but if that stat is to be trusted, it seems Tobias was a pretty poor defensive rebounder during that last half-season with the Bucks. He jumped from 13.7% before the trade to 20.2% after. Of course, he also went from playing mostly SF for the Bucks to playing mostly PF for JV that first half-season. Harris' drb% dipped back down again last year when he played more SF, but still only down to 17.3%, which is not nearly as bad as the last time Skiles coached him.

Everyone,

This has gone well past 100.

I'm going to lock this up.

I'll let all of you decide who gets the honor of starting the next speculation thread.

Here is to another great thread.
