If Encarnacion Reaches 40 Homeruns...

Post#1 » by UN-Owen » Wed Sep 30, 2015 11:00 pm

That would give the Jays 3 players with 40+ HR and 110+ RBI

Has that ever happened before?

I don't just mean in Toronto's history, but has it ever happened?

Yeah a few.

1997 rockies, 1996 rockies, 1973 Braves think that's it.

So only 1 non steroid infused team then?

Lol. Yeah and/or the team not based in a high altitude stadium.

the 97 rockies had
Vinny Castilla 40
Andres Galarraga 41
Larry Walker 49

96
Ellis Burks 40
Vinny Castilla 40
Andres Galarraga 47

73 Braves

Hank Aaron 40
Darrell Evans 41
Davey Johnson 43

2015 Jays??
9. Similarly, IF THOU HAST SPENT the entire offseason predicting that thy team will stink, thou shalt not gloat, nor even be happy, shouldst thou turn out to be correct. Realistic analysis is fine, but be a fan first, a smug smarty-pants second.

First two sets, but not the Braves. Had the homers but not the RBI. Better question is, how many team-mates ever finished 1-2-3 in RBI in the league?

Davey Johnson was a little suspect. He never had another 20 HR season before or after that one and only 4 10+ HR seasons. If they had steroids in baseball back then, he'd be a suspect.

I'm a little embarrassed I hadn't considered those Colorado teams in the 90's

In '96, Ellis Burks put together one of the best fantasy seasons of all-time

142 runs, 211 hits, 45 doubles, 40 HR, 128 RBI, 32 SB, .344 AVG, .408 OBP and a 1.047 OPS

He lead the league that year in runs, SLG% and total bases

Return to Toronto Blue Jays
