Training Camp 2015-2016

Post#1 » by Kings2013 » Thu Oct 1, 2015 5:49 am

I just saw the clips and notes from Day 1 and Day 2 on SactownRoyalty

Day One http://www.sactownroyalty.com/2015/9/30/9422875/news-and-notes-from-day-1-of-training-camp

Day Two http://www.sactownroyalty.com/2015/9/30/9429259/watch-kings-training-camp-scrimmage-day-2

Karl says Koufos and Collison are looking dynamite. When we signed Koufos I believed at that time it was a coup, and that he could be a quality starting big man

Rondo looks like he has much of his athleticism and dynamism in the clips, and I hear he has been working a lot on his game. That would be a good problem to have to have two solid point guards

I read Ben is in top shape in the Sacramento Bee today, hopefully that translates into consistency, we will see.

We have the depth and this is the first time in awhile that I feel we can surprise. Really excited for preseason.

I liked what I heard from Karl, he basically said he's going to find the best lineup he can to build around, whether that be Cuz/Gay up front, Koufos/Cuz, Willie/Cuz, etc. I hope he sticks to that because if he does this team has a real chance to find something special here.

I'm eager to see this team play at the pace Karl hopes for. High tempo, making great decisions and limited mistakes.

The battle between Rondo and DC is only going to make this team more unified and together. Rondo is going to have to earn it because Collison is a leader and fits in well with the spacing and speed mentality. Excited to see those two play together as well. They each can handle their own defensively.

I think Kosta is going to get a ton of minutes and rightfully so. We have a formidable front line. So many different looks.

The biggest question to me that has major implications is what kind of Ben are we going to get this year. Thankfully Marco provides a safety net as does the two Pg line up...but ideally Ben steps up and gives this team a big punch

The FO dodged a bullet it appears early on the Wes Matthews thing. Imagining Matthews still out injured instead of Koufos/Beli in camp doesn't make me feel good.

It's been a great camp and optimism is abound. But I have to point one little thing out. I've heard positives from literally every player in our top 12 rotation except WCS. We are very early, so I questioned even posting this.

The well-known James Ham who covers the team said WCS was in the worst physical condition of the group. As an avid fan I read the tweets, listen to KHTK, read the Bee, I haven't heard anyone that was in San Diego rave about WCS. Personally I wasn't impressed in Summer League, and I have been put off by his interviews that make me personally question the kids motor/work ethic. There has been some early buzz at STR about it.

I need more from him, hopefully these preseason games he is ready to show he is going to be a solid rotational player. I would doubt he is starting, but its earlyyyy

Well, it's hard to even know what he's going up against relative to the others there considering Karls lifelong stance on rookies. He certainly didn't look out of shape to me from the pictures I saw. He's a role player, it might be hard for him to stand out in scrimmages where he doesn't have a defined role and the games don't matter. I just hope he's showing he can spread a little and hit some jumpers.

And with that...I'm ready to see this team in action tomorrow!
