How much would Boozer have affected everything?

Carlos Boozer in his prime was a guy who could post up, run the floor, run a pick and roll/pop, shoot a mid range jumpshot.

Anyone think that Boozer would have put the Cav over the edge anytime between 2007 and 2010? How he would have affected the team dynamic and LeBron's growth?

Probably no. He was never a good defender (not atrocious but not good) and the Cavs were never really one piece away unless that piece was a true star. Maybe they would have reached another finals instead of Magic, but Dwight just had their number.

The team would have developed differently, I always thought that if we kept him we would have won a title.

Agreed.

Of course keeping Boozer would have been a big plus. But lets not fool ourself into thinking he was a superstar. 2 Time All Star and 1 TIme All NBA 3rd Team. Nice but not the single deciding piece.

The Cavs would have needed more. Boozer is nice but he was always dependend on a good PG. He is not that amazing at creating for himself so it does not help when Lebron would have needed a break or had a rare off game.

i think what really had helped would have been drafting a Joe Johnson who was available with the pick back then would have helped more. Joe is a great Offensive Star who plays solid defense.

But its all what "if"... Now Lebron has Kyrie and Love at his side.. more than the pre 2010 Cavs could ever dream of aquiring

Yeah he could've really helped you guys back then if this stuff with Thompson doesn't work out maybe you sign him, he can play PF/C.

Those were the LA lakers title years, when la had pau gasol and odom, Those two abused boozer bad in Utah and prevented Utah every year from making it to the finals. Boozer was undersized,

I think Cleveland would of made the finals, but Kobe and lebron would of equaled each other, but the difference would of been pau and odom so no championship

Depends how we kept him. Are you asking what if we picked up his option for 2004-05 and then paid him a near max contract beginning in 2005? Or are you asking what if he took the multi year MLE deal he said he'd take?

Team would have been so much different either way. We never would have made the Gooden/Varejao trade. We never could have signed Larry Hughes (not a bad thing but a fact nonetheless). Luke Jackson still would have been a bust. We still would have paid Ilgauskas a max contract. We still would have traded first round picks for Sasha Pavlovic and Jiri Welsh. And we still would have had trouble adding pieces due to the money committed to 3 players.

Essentially, we'd have had a core of Lebron/Boozer/Z, with not much behind them, and a mishmash backcourt comprised of players like Eric Snow, Booby Gibson and whomever we could string together by trading 1st round picks (see Sasha Pavlovic).

To be frank, I'm not sure Boozer would have helped us. Gooden and Varejao held their own and gave us depth.

Honestly, if I could redo anything from back then, it wouldn't be Boozer, it would be the Luke Jackson pick. We could have had Al Jefferson, Josh Smith, Jameer Nelson, or Kevin Martin, each of whom could have been an important piece for what we needed to do.

I'd also go back and nix the Jiri Welsh and Sasha Pavlovic trades. Those dudes were garbage.
