If we do end up facing Texas, I'd rather face Cole Hamels twice than face Gallardo twice lol.

We're really making a bigger deal of this than we need to. Whether we face Texas or the wildcard team it really doesn't matter. Wildcard teams win all the time even after they burn their ace. There are so many factors at play that the most important thing is getting guys healthy and ready to go. No matter what you won't be at your sharpest because the playoffs take you out of your normal routine. The best you can hope for is that fate is on your side come Game 1. Price, Stroman and Dickey could be lights out and we sweep whoever we face or one of them could be awful and the series goes 5. You just really don't know what's going to happen. I do know that playing guys when they're banged up to potentially get a Game 7 at home against KC in the ALCS is the furthest thing from my mind right now.

Yes, we're talking about maybe gaining a marginal edge in the realm of a few percent. And the key word there is maybe. In the end, it's still going to be a short series of five or seven 50-50ish games regardless of who or where we play. The Yankees and Astros (the potential opponents for #1) are also better teams than the Rangers (the opponent for #2), but that also means next to nothing in a series this short.
All we can do is be glad we're in the final 8, take who we get on Thursday, and hope for the best.

Same here.
I remember a very cool commercial about him way back in the day. Something about a fan defending him against other fans after having a bad day at the plate. Wish I could find it.
Stuck in Dystopia.

A lot of people on this forum sound certifiably insane. Just enjoy it guys, the regulars will play this series to get ready for playoffs, otherwise just go back to the Raptors forum and talk about Jonas' quick feet on D or something.
Ok, now back to not reading these threads which make me depressed about a BLUE JAYS DIVISION TITLE!

+1
Gallardo has owned us. Facing the Yanks is preferable since Tanaka would have to be used for the wild-card game. And playing the Yanks would ensure our games are on during prime-time. I can't watch those weekday afternoon games.

I'd rather our guys rest up their nicks and aches than to have someone like Josh or Jose injured after we've already got the division locked up in a fairly pointless bid for 1st. Personally, I think all of Texas, New York, Houston and LA provide their own challenges. Even though not facing Tanaka more than once is nice, New York in round 1 still makes me uneasy. I know nothing of the Astros and the Angels are hot and have the Trout factor.

Well, obviously al the teams provide challenges. It's the playoffs after all. But if I had to pick I'd want to play Houston , followed by the Yankees. Houston has a great rotation, but Kaz and Keuchel are lefties, and the rest of the team is pretty young and inexperienced.
Yankees are just not playing well, and the Jays players have confidence against them. The only reason I don't want them is because of the trash-talking their fans will do if they beat us.
Rangers and Angels I don't want any part of.

Really, that R.A. Dickey tweet with the picture of the rain delay should say all you need to know why they didn't field their regulars after winning the division.
A lot of guys haven't had much rest all season. It makes sense.

i love how they got shawn green to do a jays promo.
also i remember him being a really skinny dude. and he would consistently hit 40 homers a season. wonder if he was on the roids too. seems like everyones stats were inflated from around 1999 to the early 2000s.

Judging by the replies to that Shawn Green video, it seems he is well remembered by many female Jays fans.
