2015/2016 Training Camp/Preseason Thread

Post#1 » by Mr. E » Tue Sep 29, 2015 7:39 pm

Here we go!

Looks like the Roster is pretty much set right now, but knowing Morey we still might see another move or two before the season starts.

We are rolling with:

Center - Howard, Capella
Power Forward - Jones, Motiejunas, Harrell
Small Forward - Ariza, Brewer, Dekker
Shooting Guard - Harden, Thornton, McDaniels
Point Guard - Beverley, Lawson, Terry

Also in camp we have Joshua Smith (C), Will Cummings (G), Denzel Livingston (G), Jeremy Tyler (C) and Chris Walker (F).

Please remind me of anyone I have missed.

It looks like the last roster spot will go to one of the big guys seeing as how the Rockets are currently stacked from 1-3.

Preseason Schedule:

Oct. 6 - @Memphis
Oct. 7 Dallas (Man, starting us right away with back-to-backs!)
Oct. 11 Orlando (@Hidalgo, TX)
Oct. 13 @Phoenix
Oct. 15 @Golden State
Oct. 17 Miami
Oct. 19 New Orleans
Oct. 23 @San Antonio

I'm already bored with football, despite some intrigue with Mallett.

Go get em, Sam.

This team is STACKED.

Preseason Power Rankings
http://espn.go.com/nba/powerrankings

1. Warriors
2. Cavs
3. Spurs
4. Clippers
5. Thunder
6. Rockets
The Rockets are the reigning champs of Texas based on their playoff success. Now imagine if James Harden cedes some of the playmaking to Ty Lawson without complaint ... and if Lawson flourishes as a second playmaker ... and if Dwight Howard, Pat Beverley and Donatas Motiejunas stay healthy. Dangerous.

7. Grizzlies
8. Pelicans
9. Hawks
10. Heat
11. Bulls
12. Bucks

The Rockets are 20-1 in Vegas, behind the Clippers, etc. CRAZY.

I guess it's good to be the underdog again, but the world is about to be shocked how good this team is. 60+ winner imo.

I do think that the Rockets are getting slept on a bit here. I personally think that they will finish ahead of both San Antonio and the Clippers, and very likely the Thunder as well. I have the Warriors penciled in at the top and I don't see that changing. The Rockets play in a much more difficult division, though, so that may give the likes of the Clips an advantage.

I would rather see the Rockets be underestimated by most.

I just got 2 questions, what is Tom Thibodeau doing in Houston and where can I get those shorts? But seriously, I would love Thibodeau as the defensive coach.

Game One of the Preseason in Tuesday night against the Grizzlies. What are you hoping to see from our team?

I think that we're going to see a lot of Lawson & Beverley on the court together. I don't think that we'll see heavy minutes from Harden, Dwight or Ariza.

And yes, I mean pre-season heavy, not typical regular season heavy. We will see a lot from the young guys and the camp invites.

I hope to see a ton of Dekker, Capela & KJ, which seems likely. Hopefully we'll see a healthy T Jones for a bit and Harrell bullying everybody in his way.

Really kind of a cool week in Houston. Astros in the Playoffs, Rockets play both Tue/Thur and Sunday and the Texans "play" on Thursday.

Only Khloe can really stop this thing from turning into a true championship run.

I expect Bev to have great +/- figures this season.

I can't believe it's already here. Pink Floyd was right, every year is getting shorter...

Anyways, the Astros will demand the majority of my attention this evening(and beyond, because they're going to beat the Yankees, right?), but it's a damn good feeling having the Rockets back in action.

Go Astrockets!
