As the video shows he's a really good/smooth athlete with ridiculous length and tons of skill. He kind of has that smooth, rock you to sleep, game though so people underrate him as an athlete. He's got a pretty nice jumper as well. People will compare him to Kyle Anderson, but he's a much better athlete and shooter. Really needs to work on his body though and show that he can play with fire. Those are his two main weaknesses for me.
Speaking of lazy comparisons, I think the Bender to Porzingis is another one. He's a long, skinny, Euro who can shoot it some? Must be Porzingis. Porzi is a better athlete and probably has better range on his shot currently, but Bender (from what I've seen) has WAY more all around skill and natural instincts. He can handle, pass, has some mid range game, and is generally a smart player. Porzingis is huge, athletic, and has range but he always seemed a bit robotic to me as he lacks some in between skills and basketball instincts. Not saying one will be better than the other, but they are different players.
Bender, Ingram, and Simmons are the the 3 guys I'll have my eye on this year from an intrigue standpoint. Bender I need to see more of and Ingram/Simmons I want to see how their games will translate to college ball.
agreed on both counts.
Porzingis is a better athlete, vertically, longer and all that, but Bender is much more fluid, especially with the ball.
Bender is also a better defender and has a better motor, while been worse as a shooter.
Like you said Bender is a much more complete offensive player while Porzingis is more one dimensional, which imo doesnt have to be bad if you are really determinant at that though.
Bender is likely going to play big minutes for Maccabi even in Euroleague, unless they get Papanikolau or so.
