I don't watch the show, so I have no idea if it's any good. But Entertainment Weekly posted this an hour ago.

Entertainment Weekly wrote:Image

Tonight’s episode of Fresh Off the Boat (ABC, 8:30 p.m.) features a guest appearance by Shaquille O’Neal, and next week’s installment also puts the ball in a NBA player’s comedy court.

Jeremy Lin of the Charlotte Hornets — and the former New York Knick at the center of Linsanity — will guest-star in the Oct. 13 episode of the family comedy, EW has learned. Whereas Shaq appears as himself as the owner of a car dealership, Lin plays “Chau,” a factory worker who “frustrates Louis (Randall Park) with his opinions on the Pretty in Pink.”

Chicago Bulls Hall of Famer Scottie Pippen made a cameo in a FOTB episode last season.

Now I know why Lin has this new haircut. This haircut was popular with asian males in the 80s/90s. And this show is a flashback to the 90s. If you haven't watched the show Fresh Off The Boat, it is the funniest new comedy. But sometimes you have to be asian or a new immigrant to really get it... or a cheap Jew. Anyways, If you like basketball, some of the episodes are worth watching.

Pete Guelli, Hornets Executive VP of sales/marketing, will be watching the show next week, perhaps. I think for a marketing guy, he's gotta be thrilled for the extra exposure for a member of the team.

Weirdly, it's looking like the best place not only to get JLin info, but general Hornets team news are JLin fan sites and not Hornets fan sites.

Things like MKG seeing the team off at the airport were posted on JLin fan sites long before it reached Bonnell or general Hornets fan sites. They had a bunch of posts tracking the flight of the plane from air traffic controllers and tail numbers.

The Hornets/Heat gamethread here only had 278 posts, the one on HornetsPlanet only had 40 posts, the one on AtTheHive had 11(pregame)+83(game)+283(postgame) for a total of 377, even the general Reddit one with all nba fans only had 218(game)+89(postgame). That gamethread on JLinPortal.com had over 2K posts, and the one on JeremyLin.net had 280(1st half)+352(2nd half)+1384(postgame) for a total of over 2K posts as well.

Yes, there's a lot of Jeremy Lin information and discussion on his fan sites, but even if you cut that out, there's just so much more volume (and more recent than Bonnell tweets) general Hornets information, latebreaking news, and discussion on the Jeremy Lin fan sites than there are on the general Hornet ones. I guess it's because a small market team like the Hornets doesn't have a large comparable gathering site like Lakersground or Clutchfans, with the distributed manpower and crowdsourced info gathering.

For instance, here's the Hornets schedule for the next few days.
JAD2456 on JLinPortal.com wrote:Someone was asking about their schedule in China. Here is some info I found from Chinese Baidu fan forum, not complete though.
Local time:
10/9 ? Private Practice #1 (while adjusting jet lag)
10/10 @11:30-13:30 Open Practice #2
10/10 @14:30-15:30 NBA Cares activities at some school, donating Learning and Entertaining Center
10/10 @19:00 Welcoming Party in Shenzhen (invitation needed)
10/11 @13:30 Global Games vs Clippers at Shenzhen Universiade Center
Fly to Shanghai...
10/12 ? Practice #3
10/12 @19:00 Welcoming Party in Shanghai (invitation needed)
10/13 ? Practice #4
10/13 @20:00 Fan Appreciation Day
10/14 @20:00 Global Games @ Clippers at Shanghai Mercedes-Benz Arena

Note: I remember I read somewhere that Hornets will have 4 practices during the trip, so I assume the other two practices will be held on 10/12 and 10/13.

And that's not even counting his Chinese or Taiwanese fans who post on Chinese language websites, since I'm not literate in Chinese.

I am a Christian. I found the following article posted about Jeremy Lin, and a powerful speech he gave in China. Feel free to read if you wish. I am very happy to read of his witness.

http://www.gospelherald.com/articles/57485/20150828/jeremy-lin-shares-christian-faith-in-beijing-says-true-success-is-found-in-understanding-gods-love-in-speech-broadcasted-to-100-million-chinese.htm

Read? You can actually view them. The Churches that put these events together usually record and upload the videos to youtube for those unable to stream the testimonies live.

He does these once a year whenever he goes back to Taiwan each summer. He checks off everything on his list at once during his annual trip. Visit relatives, endorsements and corporate sponsorship events, basketball camps for communities and charities, media events and interviews, and his annual Christian testimonial.

He's usually got a translator with him to translate his English testimonial into Mandarin, since he's not that great at Mandarin, but has been getting better. That's good, since I don't speak Mandarin and wouldn't know what he's saying if he did his speeches in Mandarin.

I find them interesting because, while he's usually diplomatic and media savvy with reporters and interviewers in America, he lets down his guard and is nakedly honest during his Christian testimonials and reveals intimate things and vulnerabilities he wouldn't otherwise about what happened behind the scenes during the season.

For the record, I'm not Christian or even religious (agnostic here), but I think people should be free to believe whatever they want. He's devout but not the proselytizing type.

I've been checking out that thread on JLinPortal. LOL, good grief, that's some serious stalker type **** going on. Hornets haven't seen that level of fandom for a particular player since Larry Johnson.

Anyway, this post made me laugh

roles, reversed at security in China

real-dsb-
Chinese security: "Stop sir! Where do you think you're going?"
Kemba: "I'm Kemba Walker."
Security: "Who?"
Kemba: "Kemba Walker, I'm an NBA player"
Security: "Yeah right, what team?"
Kemba: "The Hornets."
Security: "You don't look tall enough to be an NBA player."
Kemba: "Are you serious? Google me."
Security: "Hmm, I can't seem to access Google. Sorry."
Lin: "Hey man, it's cool, he's with me."
Security: "OMG, it's Jeremy Lin!!! Hey, Simba, can you take a picture for us?"
Kemba: "It's Kemba!"

Why do so many people in that thread seem to think Kemba is some kind of ego-maniac who is threatened or upset by the attention Lin is receiving in China? Man, they dont know Kemba (or this team)...yet. Kemba may be an inefficient shooter, but he's an incredible teammate. He's humble and gracious. Everyone on that team plane is probably ecstatic for Lin right now. Its a very close locker room.

So many Lin fans still scarred from the Melo, Harden, Kobe situations.

Its all good fellas. Lin will be loved here by fans and teammates.

I think its rather disturbing the kind of fans and attention this guy gets. Its honestly just weird as hell to me.

Good god man, if you value your sanity don't go to jeremylin.net (aka overreact.net) or the portal. It's like a Justin Bieber fan club - not surprising that those places exist but not somewhere the average person should be.

Return to Charlotte Hornets
