Victory Cigarro!!! BOS 111 @ RMD 96 (2-0) *Preseason*

Post#1 » by truth18 » Thu Oct 8, 2015 9:27 pm

Boxscore: http://www.nba.com/games/20151008/BOSRMD/gameinfo.html

Well, once again, we pretty much entirely outclassed this team. It was actually nice to see the team sans Amir (and Turner once again. We got to see more of Sully/Lee/KO, and some different lineups. Rozier looked a lot more comfortable out there in the minutes he was given. IT struggled in the first half but looked better as the game went on. AB was fantastic and is my choice for the VC winner. His defense and smart offense in the first allowed us to gain out first large lead that RM never recovered from. Crowder had a silently good game, KO was efficient and made a few excellent plays, and Smart (my second VC choice) continues to be sublime. Lee also had a very solid game. The competition on this team looks to be intense.

Sergio Rodriguez was incredibly fun to watch as well. Overall though RM was pretty lacking.

Next game is against the Nets, on Wednesday, October 14th at 7:30pm at the Barclays Center. Even though the preseason means nothing in the long run, some real NBA competition will be nice to see.

Go Celtics!!!!!!!

Others, team win. Can we add a option to the poll, #GoTeam. That is what Brad praises and that is what we all should enjoy, awesome teamball.

Nah, I can't because the poll only allows for ten options, we need an "other" slot, and people freak out if I take off fan favorites who don't deserve to be on there that particular game, so I would rather keep it to nine players + other than deal with that.

It was pretty much another team victory though.

I'd give it to Rozier.

Pretty loose definition here of "NBA competition" lol. We have Sixers, Nets, and Knicks for the rest of preseason. Hey preseason schedule makers, why don't the Celtics get the Cavs and Warriors?

This season, it may be beneficial to have the last option (or the 1st) be "Team/Stevens/Other".

But, go with what you feel is best, truth.
You do a great job at the Post-Game threads.

On the VC counting (for at least the Preseason), I'm going to go with a "Consolation Prize" for the runner-up.
Let's see how that works.

We had a few ties last year. I suspect, that there will be a ton of them this season.
This team is so closely talented; that there's not much drop-off, between the 1st and 2nd unit.

(This may be blasphemy, but you might want to try out 2 votes, instead of one? At least for the Preseason.)

Edit: Also, I think a Post-game thread is good, win or lose. Ass-of-shame, or however you do it.

Giving it to Lee. With Hunter and Smart as runner ups. 13 and 11 in short minutes is pretty good. Lee is obviously our best big man and it's not even close. His talent for barely trying is superb. But I may be overzealous with optimism for him.

I had no idea Madrid played a 16-year-old out there against us in this game.

Luka Dončić, from Slovenia I guess he's the backup PG. He plays the 2 also.

I went Crowder since it's preseason and he jumped off the bench to pick up Mickey off the floor. And, just played hard, had a great +/-, nice ball movement in the first half, hit some shots in the 2nd. Then sat down. Except to cheer and pick up teammates.

And there wasn't one true standout. Everybody pretty much looked good and did what they do. AB shined with the shooting and cuts again. Lee with nice passes\rebounds - shot selection wasn't awesome at times, tho (does he remind anyone else of Jeff Green the way he launches the ball on drives?) Kelly had some amazing plays, put a lot of pressure on the D, then could've been more assertive on others. Rozier\Hunter\Mickey looked nice. Jerebko was forcing things - probably had the worst game. Young definitely trying harder on D, but just doesn't make much of an impact out there yet (on either end).

- Lee initiating the 7SOL offense on a possession that ended in a Bradley 3. Push, push, push
- Depth apparent despite having 3 guys down/unavailable. Everyone was running and playing at a high energy level (even the opposing coach said so). Would be great if they can continue this "play-the-whole-48" thing in the regular season. Rooks & co. even padded the lead in the 4th against int'l vets.
- Another reason why the Celtics love Avery Bradley -- his coachability (the turning-him-into-a-PG experiment was a failure though). I like the direction they're taking with his shot profile (and I guess the rest of the team too). Corner-3's and cuts for AB! Funny how he seemed to be missing the few midrange Js he took in those 2 games hehe.

I went with Lee.

Two fun games to watch so far.

Bradley and IT had strong games too.

I almost went with Rozier for VC, but the game was already in hand when he checked in.

Very good game by Mickey too.

Unrelated, but I just love everything about RJ Hunter, I haven't ever seen him make the wrong play or wrong move.

Entertaining game, I really like the ball movement on our team, we are fun to watch.

But we really need to trade some quantity for quality, hopefully Danny can get a deal for an allstar done, when one becomes available.

Agreed. Per the Elrod summary on Danny, didn't even realize that was the pick we swapped for Doc.

Doc vs Stevens and Hunter? Um...how ya doin'?
