Word is the Braves want to add a RH power bat, add to the bullpen, and possibly a vet starting pitcher. They'll have $30 mill in FA to spend. Also a rumor is the Braves may bring back Kimbrel. That would be awesome.

The top power RH bats are J Upton and Cespedes.

Cespedes has been bouncing around alot.
Some stability would be nice for him and probably help him succeed.

Need some relievers. Bullpen should get reinforcements with Chris Withrow and Shae Simmons coming back from TJ surgery, and with young guys like Vizcaino adding in experience but now word got out that Paco Rodriguez will probably miss the entire next season because of his own Tommy John surgery. He was the other main piece acquired in the Hector Olivera trade, which is looking worse by the day. We need to sign a lefty or two for the pen.

Not that we intend on paying him but.......

Zack Greinke will opt out of the three years and $71 million that remains on his contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers and become a free agent this winter. http://baseball.realgm.com/wiretap/43878/Greinke-Expected-To-Eclipse-$147M-Deal-Signed-In-2012

I wish we had enough to get him.

This will be an important offseason for us. Not as important as the 2016 offseason, but we must begin to start spending money and to begin transitioning into the contender management wants us to be by 2017.

We'll probably finish below .500 next year, but we have to start building the foundation now, and not wait until next year's offseason, when it could be too late to make a Cobb County contender. Rome wasn't built in a day.

Braves to transition Olivera to LF,

http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/atlanta-braves

If they do that, I'd like to see them go after David Freese for 3b. Sign him 2-3 yrs until Rio Ruiz is ready.

You'd have Olivera in LF and Markakis in RF, I'd like to see Maybin return on a 2 yr deal, by then Mallex Smith should be ready. The Braves are also very interested in Matt Wieters, get him and bring AJ back as backup.

RF Markakis
CF Maybin
1b Freeman
3b Freese
C Wieters
LF Olivera
2b Peterson
SS Simmons

The Braves also want to bring in a vet starting pitcher and some relievers. A guy like Scott Kazmir could be an option on a 2 yr deal that won't eat all our money.

Miller
Teheran
Minor
Kazmir
Wisler

According to Joel Sherman of the New York Post, the Mets checked in on the availability of Andrelton Simmons on Thursday morning and were told that it would take Matt Harvey or Jacob deGrom.
Yeah, so that's not happening. ESPN's Jonah Keri reported Wednesday that the Braves have engaged in trade talks involving Simmons with at least one National League West team, and Buster Olney added Thursday that the Angels are also interested. Any team with a need at shortstop will be inquiring, but it's going to take a sizable return for the Braves to give up the 26-year-old defensive maestro. He's on a relatively team-friendly contract through 2020. rotoworld.com

I don't want to trade Simmons at all. But if the Mets trade offered the most, I'd prefer deGrom.
