NLDS - Cardinals vs. Cubs

Post#1 » by ADDinChicago » Thu Oct 8, 2015 10:54 am

So as we all witnessed last night, Sex Arrieta shut down the Pirates and the Cubs have moved on to the actual playoffs and will open the NLDS this Friday at St. Louis. (I'll update this as needed) So let's talk Cubs-Cards!

Game 1:
Friday October 9 @ 5:45pm CT
Cubs (Lester) @ Cardinals (Lackey)
TV - TBS
Cardinals 4, Cubs 0 (Cardinals lead series 1-0)

Game 2:
Saturday October 10 @ 4:37pm CT
Cubs (Hendricks) @ Cardinals (Garcia)
TV - TBS
Cubs 6, Cardinals 3 (Series tied 1-1)

Game 3:
Monday October 12 @ 5:07pm
Cardinals (Wacha) @ Cubs (Arrieta)
TV - TBS
Cubs 8, Cardinals 6 (Cubs lead series 2-1)

Game 4:
Tuesday October 13 @ 3:37pm
Cardinals (Lackey) @ Cubs (Hammel)
Cubs 6, Cardinals 4 (Cubs win series 3-1)

The only thing that sucks is we're only going to get one Jake start in the series.

I expect Hendricks to get Game 2. Kyle was great in September. Hopefully he can carry that into this series, though I expect Joe to have a super quick hook on him if he ever looks to be in trouble.

Rotation order got STL is: Lackey, Garcia, Wacha, and Lynn fourth.

Obviously huge first game for Lester. Take at least 1 in St. Louis to effectively remove home field advantage, and then you have to like your chances with Arrieta pitching game 3 in the first of two home games.

The talent differential between both of these teams is marginal at best, and anything can happen because baseball (see 2007 and 2008). But the Cubs come into this series playing some of their best ball of the year while the Cardinals may be in their lowest point of their 100-win season that coincides with a number of injuries.

This series will be very tough but I'm hopeful this team is ready for the challenge under Madden's leadership. #LetsGo

Super pumped! I got a great feeling about Lester and if we can get game 1 it's huge. Cardinals definitely have had a lot of injuries, but they could put field 9 Players for their AA team and I'd be worried. Crappy game is so early out here as I will have to miss bits and pieces of first half, but Still excited.

If we take Game 1, they're going to panic.

They know Jake awaits them in Game 3.

We should probably try to get a hit at some point.

Man, I thought we'd be scratching and clawing like this against Cole not Lackey.

Possibly the worst home plate ump I've ever seen. He should be suspended. Changed the entire game.

The ump sucked for both sides, though. The Cubs couldn't hit.

Four of the six called third strike K's for Cardinals were documented balls. Any way you look at it, it was wrong.

Regardless, it was less about the Cubs inability to hit as it was Molina's greatness. Give him credit, he's the best.

Well the cubbies are up 6-3 in game 2 in the seventh. Gotta like that bounce back right now.

Happy with a split and heading home! Great job by Maddon to get things going with small ball. Some great individual performances as well.

That was the best game of Soler's career. Hell of a time to have it.
