Is Tulo unhappy in Toronto?

Post#1 » by Alasen » Mon Oct 12, 2015 4:47 pm

If not sure if this is public knowledge around here but i figured id bring it up. During his interview last night with Barry Davis after the Game, Barry Davis being his usual moronic self asked Tulo about being traded to Toronto and how "unhappy" he was about it (/facepalm barry). Anyways, surprisingly Tulo did confirm it by saying that "i wasn't pleased with how it all went down". So this made me think.

Has his poor performance at the plate been a byproduct of simply not wanting to be here? I mean having watched him play the last 3 months in Toronto i noticed that he never really smiled much or showed any kind of emotion for that matter. In fact, last night when he hit that homerun was the first time i really saw him show emotion.

Do you think he will want to remain in Toronto next season? Or is he just itching to GTFO ASAP?

He was more mad Rockies trading him than him coming to Toronto. It's a non-issue.

He's happy here, just don't expect him to sugar coat everything and act like he's in love with the city and wants to retire here ala vasquez.

I mean he was in colorado for almost 10 years it probably sucked getting traded and having to move his family after being there for so long

You obviously don't know the story. He was pissed off at the Rockies organization for lying to him, by failing to inform him that they were going to trade him. The owner promised to fill him and get his approval before dealing him, and he completely didn't stick to his word. Wasn't even the one to tell him he was traded.

Tulo was unhappy with the trade because he was with the same organization for 10 years. He basically became the franchise player and he figured he would be there for the rest of his career, but he ended up being shipped off without warning. In one of his first interviews post-trade, he stated that he was more upset with the way the Rockies handled things – not because he was traded to Toronto.

Also, Tulo has always been known as someone who rarely smiles. If you go back and look at highlights of the walk-off wins/celebrations in particular, you'll see that he was actually beaming then as well.

Ah ok. That definitely makes sense. Shame on the rockies for such a dick move. Wasn't sure what the deal was there. That being said. Do you think he will want to stay in Toronto? Or will he ask to be moved in the offseason?

He was pissed about how it was communicated to him. I think he was one of the last people to find out or something.

He didn't start sucking after the trade. He was terrible all year.

Come on, terrible? His line in Colorado -- .300/.348/.471 -- is a bit below his career average (.818 OPS vs. .877) but it hardly qualifies as terrible, especially considering his defence.

He was hitting .300 with 12 HR and 50+ RBI before the trade. I don't know how that sucks, especially for a shortstop.

He had a wRC+ of 84 from July 2nd to July 27th (he spent that entire stretch in Colarado). So maybe saying his piss poor play was yearlong was a stretch (he was very good before July), but it certainly started long before his trade to Toronto.

This sounds like a thread that would fit well on the raptors board. Take a few bits of information, remove context, add drama et voila.

He was unhappy with how it unfolded. Ownership told him he was not going to be traded and got traded without ownership letting him know. Obviously when you are living somewhere for 10 years and suddenly having to move your entire family half across North America with out being told you are gonna be unhappy. He is happy here, they have a chance to win the whole thing, he hasn't been in the playoffs since 07.

I heard him say that he is happy in Toronto just a couple of weeks ago. He was really pissed the way the Rockies pulled the trade off without prior notification. He thought being a franchise player, he would have thought the Rockies would have showed more respect towards him.

Wow, this is so out of context and making up storylines.

Tulo had a great relationship with the ownership in Colorado, he wanted to be a lifer, and he also said that if they did intend to move him, to let him know and be professional.

They pulled off the trade without notice, and it blindsided him. He used to go for dinner at the owners house like family and then they just traded him with no respect for him.

He didn't care about being traded, he cared about being professional about it and was upset at the course of events.

context....CONtext....CONTEXT

Tulo has been rumoured to be traded for the last few years. When the trade happened however there wasn't a lot of notice and the organization didn't go to him before hand and let him know that a trade was close. Then he gets traded and the first call he gets is to pack his bags. It's kind of a slap in the face to a guy who has been the face of the franchise for 10 years. You would all be pissed under those circumstances...even if the trade puts you in a better position professionally.
