Why take Turner out?

He's our best bat.

I would have worked a couple of 1 inning guy 1st (like Yimi) just to see a 0 get put up before I put in Wood to do something like get me 6 outs.

to be 100% Magic Mike deserved to be on the roster, and IF Potato is willing to bring in a career starter Wood to relieve, no reason why we couldn't have done the same with Mike. he would have been my man but since he isn't on the roster, yes... Yimi was loose, he would have been the guy. it is only logical when you pull a starter early, you bring the opposite hand to throw off a lineup that was built for the starter and work their lineup card against them. at minimum, it forces their manager to bring in replacements off the bench early which gives you a better odds in later innings to have lesser pinch hitters come off against your better point relief, lefty righty match wise.

Managerial Candidates

Post#163 » by Ranma » Tue Oct 13, 2015 3:40 am

I'm fine with either internal options in Wallach or Roenicke over Mattingly, but I prefer Wallach. I normally would be pining for Scioscia but it may be time for me to move on from him, plus, the Angels look to be bringing him back. I'm not aware of any other outside candidates who would be appealing. I don't know enough about Bud Black to weigh in on him.

Rationalizing Another Bad Decision

Seriously. Redbeard has been our only consistent offensive threat. I guess Mattingly wants to give him rest since he's had injury concerns, but if we're going to throw in the towel, why not just clear the bench? I'm only half kidding.

I know one thing is for sure.
Seeing Carl Crawford is pissing me off more than ever.

I don't want him to play tomorrow.
I don't want him in a uniform next year.

I said it at the beginning of the year….If we have to pay him to leave, then that's just what we have to do. Can't we prorate his deal ala Bobby Bonilla? I want him away from our team and I want our FO getting creative with what we can do in LF (power bat like Cespedes? OBP bat like Zobrist? ****? Alex Gordon?)

The series isn't over….but I just realized that I'm getting more pissed off the more I see him on the field and taking bats.

Did you watch that ball Granderson hit just fly over his head while he's tip toeing to the track? Man that was infuriating.

I would be happy with Wallach too, but prefer an ex catcher in managerial roles so I wouldn't mind Brad Ausmus once he is fired from Tigers, and how about Steve Yeager? he has been a coach in various capacities for some time and was a manager for an independent league team since 2007. Brent Mayne would make a good one too.

as for non catchers, Joey Cora would make a pretty good manager and is currently a scout for the Padres and have managed MLB games before with the Marlins.

Carl's defense has been dismal for the last few years. his OPS is less than 700. there is absolutely no reason why he gets to play and Joc or Puig should sit. Andrew can fill the roster, but Donny Potato is the one who writes in the lineup card. can't fix stupid.
