Rondo and Karl getting into it!

Rondo's never seen eye to eye with a coach so this shouldn't surprise anyone, for all his faults Doc Rivers is a guy that builds good rapport with everyone of his players and even he had disagreements with Rondo quite frequently. If he can stay professional enough to not derail the team, everyone can live with that.

The real reason that Celtic team with Doc and Rondo was able to make it work was because of Pierce, Allen, and Garnett in this young kids ear. They often had to corral him and keep him focused.

Having him be a team leader on a George Karl coached team, without the big time veteran he could look to and respet, is a recipe for disaster.

Kings fans, please don't feel like this is an attack on the Kings. Its about the personalities in that locker room at this point.

This morning on the local morning sports radio show they were saying Rondo was most likely trolling the media because someone asked a stupid question so he gave a stupid answer. An answer the media is just waiting to pounce on. Y'all been trolled. Even so the radio guys (Carmichael Dave) was saying how Rondo still should not be making these comments even if he is joking since it's gunna catch fire and create unwanted drama.

It sounds just as likely that he's trolling as it is he's being serious. Which, yeah, is why he should not be making these comments. When you have a very legitimate/proven history of causing conflict, he should not be surprised when the media is curious about how he is gelling with his new coach. Not that they can necessarily expect a real answer, but hey, he got his headline either way. Just more off-court attention due to Rondo on a team that shouldn't be searching for that.

He doesn't really have a history of conflict that much greater that most players, though. He was fine with Doc. Great with Stevens. Terrible with the Mavs. One source of crazy conflict over half a season isn't enough to say he has a history of it. Meh. Rondo answers like this because all of the reported conflicts he has are always blown out of proportion anyway. The Mavs conflicts are the only legitimate issues he was the source of, imo. That was a mess.

A certain level of conflict is good, especially this early while game plans are being hashed out. I think fans often underestimate how often this happens and how productive it could be. Rondo is a very smart floor general and Karl is a smart coach. If both are smart and have egos, this should be expected somewhat. Im site mousy coaches would rather have an outspoken player who argues about ways to win than a player who's indifferent.

If I hadn't followed him in Boston for his entire career I would agree with this picture but the guy is weird and he does enjoy trolling people, media included. I could definitely see this being a case where he was joking but didn't show the expression on his face and people took it at face value. Rondo is a strange guy but other than Carlisle had never had problems with coaches before, whether it was Doc or Brad Stevens. Pierce and Garnett loved him like a little brother, so he can't be that bad of a guy in the locker room. He's got high standards and wants to live up to them as a player and a team so I'm sure he's frustrated but I have trouble believing he would come out and say something like this so early in the preseason.

After the media beating he took in Dallas last year this sounds like the kind of joke he'd make just to screw with everyone. Either way, he's not on my team anymore so whether it works or blows up completely is irrelevant to me. Hoping he does alright there though.

I don't know what's going on in that FO, but Vlade should've just given Karl what he wanted. Between Sacto FO, players, and Karl, isn't it obvious who is near-elite in what he does? Vlade appears to be on a power trip that's unnecessary. I hope Karl quits for the 76ers sake.

The only incident with Doc worth mentioning was the screen shattering bottle. KG said he's very emotional and tough to deal with for those who don't know how to deal with him. Anyway, two incidents in 9 years in the league hardly call for this amount of bull around him.

It did seem like a tongue in cheek comment, and even if it wasn't, he doesn't seem too worried about it.
