His team leadership and awesome jumping into the crowd and kissing the stuffed animal were the highlights for me.

He could have been the me first prima donna when he was pulled from the game one out shy of the win, but he did what a team player does, swallows hard and cheers on his team.

This was the example for all young aspiring athletes.

Let us never forget the thread where someone claimed the team didn't like him and that's why he had low run support. That was probably the thread of the year for me.

...... I gotta admit, Pillars really won me over. If Pompey is still the future CF, he has to earn the rite. He has to steal it from Pillar. Nothing should be just given. Thats how Pillar got here. He earned it.

I agree. This guy has won me over. Nothing surprises me about this guy anymore. The way he plays CF, and the catches he made this year have been unbelievable. The catch he made yesterday was incredible. He is my ALDS MVP with his bat and glove.

Pillar, consistent contributions
If this was an actual award by MLB, they'd be bring it to Bautista

Pillar for me. In every facet he was incredible. Hit the ball well, scored runs, fantastic defense, just on every level was consistently great.

Didn't get a Bautista type hit of course, but one play doesn't define a series. Pillar was the guy, and honestly second would be Colabello for me.

Noone giving love for Estradas 1 run game? He gave up the least amount of runs for any SP. Sure Pillar was great in games 1/2 but we lost. Withouth Estradas solid performance in Game 3 we wouldn't be talking about this

Firstly, what are you talking about? Just games 1-2? In game 4 Pillar had 3-4 hits and 3 RBIs with a HR and in game 3 he went 2-4, didn't score a run but that's not on him. They were all elimination games after game 3, and everything plays a part.

Baseball is a game where one player can do all in their power and still lose, simply because it is so team oriented in that it is on everyone to play a part. One cannot discredit the consistency of Pillar over the entire series with big plays.

Without Pillar for example in the last game with that great defensive play, runs score and the entire outlook of the game changes.

It is a bit unfair given Estrada pitched a gem in an elimination game and only played one game, but the impact of Pillar in all facets was incredible.

Though one cannot ignore Estrada at all of course, he is in the conversation.

If there was such an award it would certainly go to Bautista but my personal choice was Chris Colabello. He was the only guy to show up in Game 2 and a huge part in keeping them in it. Then he hit everything in sight against all the lefties the rest of the way. He also played some very solid defense and came up with some key plays. I thought he was their best and most consistent player with Pillar a close 2nd.

I voted for PIllar, mostly for allowing Tulo to make that catch in shallow CF, but you make a good point about Colabello. He was amazing too, and never let us down defensively at 1B.

Also because I have no idea who I'd pick out of the players. You could make a good case for Stroman, Pillar, Bautista, Donaldson, and Colabello.

It's really not being stated enough. That was ballsy from Gibbons. Everyone in the US was trashing him for using Price in Game 4. I still don't think I would have pulled that move to bring Price in the 5th but he committed to Marcus. I think enough of the die-hards had faith in Stroman but it was a move that would have had enough people demanding heads to roll if they lost. He stuck to it and shut out any potential criticism in his decision making.

Personally I think you just have to give it to Bautista for that home-run alone. The best thing is that something like Encarnacion's 6th inning home run is completely ignored for how big of a hit that was.

MVP - Bautista
Runner Up - Colabello
3rd Star - Pillar
4th Star - Aaron Sanchez (I don't think enough can be said about his bounce back to pitch in all 5 playoff games and shut Texas down).

Gibbons would have been absolutely crushed if they lost that game. CRUSHED. Hell, he was already getting **** on by the US media in the days before the game started. I'm sure AA backed starting Stroman over Price too in game 5, but Gibbons would have taken the brunt of it if that decision had gone wrong.

If forced to choose a player, I'd probably go with Bautista too. Hitting a HR in that spot is just massive, it won the series for them. Pillar is right there after him for his contributions over the 5 games, though.
