Dre is similar, but obviously he's younger and likely has more defensive upside than DJ. One thing I'd like to note is, Dre actually occasionally knows how to use verticality to his advantage, like how Hibbert does. So that's encouraging to see. We'll see how this season plays out, I don't expect us to even crack top 15 in best defense TBH.
We were actually 14th in points allowed last year, but 21st in defensive efficiency and FG% defense. I expect us to be better than that this year, but I think the strength of our team is going to be offense for now.
Through the preseason we are 4th in offensive efficiency and TS% as team, 9th in scoring, 5th in FG%, and 4th in 3P%.
I think that just goes with the territory of being a young team. Its rare for young teams to be great defensively. Its usually veteran teams near the top on that side of the ball. Young teams tend to be great on offense first and then defense comes later as they get more experience and leeway from the refs.
I think we can be top 10 offensively this year, and that alone can probably get us in the playoffs even if we dont improve at all defensively, but if we can get in the top 15 in defensive efficiency along with this offense we could be a legit playoff team and maybe win a series.
