He's a 35 year old veteran who is a great guy and a solid/below average player who adds depth at the 3 spot.

There isn't such a thing in USA?
Not really it's illegal to have someone work more than like 12 hours without a few hour break. I person could volunteer to work 24 hours but a company couldnt make someone do it

it is somewhat common in Latvia, I bet it is similar in the rest of the Baltic countries (Lithuania and Estonia) and this part of Europe on the whole.
mostly applies to jobs in hospitals, to firefighters, border patrol, etc. you get my drift.
