i prefer Ersan off the bench. Something about him is too out of control, like he is playing at a different pace than everyone else or something. Could just be lack of chemistry. Seems like he and Baynes would be a nice duo together on the 2nd unit, with Morris fitting better with the starters.

Nice gameplan by SVG tonight. New lineups, new ideas and finding out works. Really encouraging.

Thats the other i dont like about him. In this offense the stretch 4 has to shoot when open from 3. He pump fakes every time instead and it messes up the flow of the offense. Despite being a great % guy from 3, hes never been a high volume guy, and we really need a guy who isnt afraid to put up 5-6 a game from there at that spot. Not sure that is his game.

Well, if you can take anything away from the preseason it's that Detroit is shooting their free throws a lot better thus far. They have made 114 out 145 attempts which is 78%. Last season the team shot just over 70% which was good for second worst in the league. If it carries over into the real games that's a substantial improvement.

ya against the Spurs 3rd string. Looks like Stanley got dominated by Kawhii. Kawhii is a better/more explosive/longer version of Stanley

Against our 3rd string. Dinwiddie, Tolliver, Meeks/Bullock were in during the comeback if not mistaken.

Didnt see Stanley vs Kawhi much. Johnson only played 17 min and the stream wasnt working most of the game.

People need to realize that SJ just went against PG/Butler/Leonard..he's a really good player already, but a rookie, so the struggles are understandable against those quality of players. He's going to be a plus for us this year.

From all that I've seen this preaseason my starting 5 is Jackson/Pope/SJ/Morris/Dre. They've had some really really good stretches on both O and D, so that's how I'd roll to start. It'll be interesting to see what SVG does. A guy like Bullock has played himself into minutes, where as someone like Dinwiddie has played himself out of them once we get either Blake or Jennings back.

Consistency to start the year is most likely going to hurt us at times, but when we get rolling there's no reason this team can't be a playoff team in this weak Eastern conference.

I saw a couple of plays where sj was guarding kawhi,he played good defense against him,but it seemed kawhi wasant missing during the 1st-2nd.

The bench really struggled until the 4th quarter. I'd rather have Stanley coming off the bench handling the ball most of the time rather than Dinwiddie who can't really create for himself.

Yeah, our best 5 is RJ/KCP/Stan/Morris/Dre but Stanley off the bench for a while is needed because no one else can create their own shot. At least until Jennings is back. Ersan has to stop watching Tayshaun highlights and pump faking every time.

This is why we need Jennings badly. He's the scorer we have off the bench but he won't return until December. I think he'll bring in a spark when he comes back. I think Stanley will come off the bench in the beginning of the season. No reason to sit down a veteran in Ilyasova. The guy can really play when it counts. He's old but you know what your'e getting from him.

Thanks for posting. Didnt realize we started the game so good. 12-3 to open the game vs their starters.

Edit - So after watching the 1st qtr, I think Leonard only made 1 of his shots on SJ. He was doing all his work vs Morris and KCP. Also Drummond outplayed Duncan that qtr.

SVG is doing it the right way though - giving his veteran forwards the starts until the rookie takes their spot.

I believe it's at the heart of uis criticism of the Washington team that had Blatche (he specifically mention that team in an interview):

Rookies getting minutes is fine IF they earn them!

Putting together that Wizards team (or the current Philly team) is what SVG is against simply because as a Coach you want players to earn minutes, starting spots OR benchings!

If you've got a team full of young guys who make poor choices on the floor how do you bench one for his mistake? You'll end up benching every player lol
