Is Marcelo Huertas good enough to play the Nash role?

Post#1 » by FrozenIceCubes » Mon Oct 19, 2015 2:30 am

His shooting and his passes against GS resembled Nash and I think he would be the perfect guy to play the Nash role for the 2nd unit. If he can give us what Nash gave to the team in limited minutes the last 2 years that would be a good boost for the team.

I was unaware that Steve Nash played for LA last year.

I was talking about the 2014 season were he only contributed In limited minutes and I can see Huertas having that type of role for the team.

I just want to tie a few of your last threads together here FrozenIceCubes:

I think Marcelo would be great in a limited by injury veteran position. He can run the break with Gerald Wallace, and feed DPOY Hibbert, and LeBron Randle. If this doesn't lead to instant wins, Scott will of course be fired.

Yes, I think Huertas can play just as good as 2014 Nash. I think that he has the chance to start and Russell comes off the bench. My biggest concern is still this team has too many chuckers, and one of Lou or Young should be traded for a backup center imo.

2014's Nash? He's considerably better than that. 2013's Nash is the question. He could get close with enough minutes and if he doesn't get injured. (Never had problems with injuries, but NBA's schedule is a big challenge for oldman rookies.)

He can't start with Kobe, tho. Not because Kobe is ball dominant, huertas can play off the ball most of the shotclock and then create something in the last seconds, but because he's weak defensively. They both together starting would be really bad.

It's amazing how people underestimate the Lakers and there eye for talent. Props to Jim/Ryan/Mitch for continuing to pick up the GEMs.

His court vision is amazing and I like the combo of him and Young.

He brings a different dimension to the team and doesn't force us to play rookies 40 minutes a game.

He is such a good fit for our wing gunners. Take the dribbling out of the equation for them by shooting off the catch from Huertas setting them up. Too much ball stopping when our wings put the ball on the ground. Credit it to the FO for not missing on the limited options they gave themselves.

The real question should be-will he make the Rook/Soph game with our young 3?

I thought Clarkson can also play point ?

Marcelo vs Nash ? Heck Marcelo is already better than Nash !! Why ? Cause Nash was never healthy when Lakers got him.
