It is a stupid rule, but it was correctly implemented

" The ground rule or automatic double frequently results in a runner at first base who appears to have been able to score on the batted ball nevertheless being returned to third base when the ball goes out of play."

These MLB commercials man....Vagisil, Cilias, and Viagra. They show them all the time. A little awkward if you watch games with family.

Clippard was hitting the borders like crazy there. Some called strikes could've been balls and vice versa tbh.

True, but they had been a lot more 'generous' with the cubs pitchers

Really? It wasn't my impression, but i must admit i was "multitasking" for a good chunk of the game, so it's very possible i missed some crucial pitches

In any case, confortable win.
Hopefully next home game is in the world series :)

There was definitely some luck in our favor (those Cub errors). But hey? That's part of the game. Going in, our defense was questioned, but so far they are able to take care of the routine plays. So I guess I can't call it luck.

DeGrom found his rhythm. It seems like his issue is in the beginning. He's unsure if he should go more with his fastballs or his breaking pitches. From what he said in his post game interview, the breaking ball was definitely the bread and butter today. Game 1 against the Dodgers, fastball was the right choice. Game 5, he tried to fool them with breaking balls because they already saw lot of his fastball in Game 1 (like Ron Darling said), then when he went his fastball the batters had trouble. Tonight was the opposite, they seem to like that fastball of his.

I'm happy for Wright and Cespedes tonight, but so far they weren't able to hit the great pitchers. Hopefully they can keep continuing to take advantage of the bottom rotation guys tomorrow.

Matz is up! I really hope this kid gets his first post-season win and the team goes to the World Series!

Let's Go Mets!!

I thought the umpire today liked low fastballs, which benefits DeGrom because he's great at keeping the ball down in the zone and sometimes a couple inches below.
