I don't think anyone here is calling him that. It seems most on this board have been pleased with Lin and agree he's good enough to start, just maybe better for the team if he comes off the bench, at least from what he's shown so far.

Kemba is a great teammate. He was one at UCONN. He and Jeremy will be BFFs soon. Kemba is type of the guy Jeremy can really be real friends with. Seriously, Kemba was the ideal role model while he was at UCONN. Jeremy is the same way. Both came from great supporting parents. I really think those two can be really good together.

Players don't like this label.

If OKC offered Harden a starting job and bigger role, he might stay.

whoever was saying earlier about how announcers always act surprised when Lin does something good has me noticing it now. It really does happen all the time.

IMHO, he has always been an above average starting PG in the making, aka Lowry, Dragic 2 yrs ago.

the debate about Lin will never stop... that's basically the kid's whole basketball life, he has to prove himself again, again, again... there will always be doubters no matter what he did and achieved...
the kid is a very good player

If I have to pick a starting PG between Reggie Jackson and Lin right now I would take Lin every time. Reggie is getting $16m while Lin is getting $2m. Something is wrong with that picture.

Lin always have to prove himself over and over again and this time it is no different. Hope he will get a great contact next season and Charlotte can work something out with him. He seems like a great fit here.

it's people like Stephen A Smith, and his bum buddy Skip defending and pumping Reggie Jackson performance and then his contract.

Very good point. Do you notice that many commentators (almost in every game), keep saying Lin is "good player", then adding "but he is not great player" or even "he will never be" right after? It is so annoying.

I see that comment as a compliment. Not everyone is a great player. But his work ethic might make him a great players. He still young and still room to improve. Giving the right system and right personnel (READ: HAWKS), everyone can be a great player.

Who cares if he starts or is 6th man? What matters is who is on the court during crunch time in the 4th qtr of a tight game. That's when you really see who the coach thinks are his best players.

I agree with a prior post: Lin is simultaneously the most underrated and overrated player in the league. His haters think he doesn't even belong in the league, his crazy fans think he is the best pg in the league. Truth is, his ceiling is an above average starting PG. I can see Lin averaging 17pts 7-8asst if given the keys to run a team for 35 mpg.

I wanted to see him sign with Dallas this season but after the pre-season, I'm glad he came to CHA. He seems to be able to play his game freely and the media and fans have been more than fair and open to judging him based on his play on the court and not the hype/hate that has been attached to him. I've watched 95% of his games in the NBA and this preseason is no fluke. That's Jeremy's game and he will only get better.

My Mets in the world series and bball season starting soon! It really cant get better.

Just checked 2014-2015 stats, where Lin was with the tanking Lakers, playing a slow paced, outdated system that clearly not favoring any of Lin's various strengths like the current system Charlottes is using. And Per 36 min, among all qualified PGs, Lin averaged 16/6 while attempting barely over 12 shot attemps, and ranked No 18 among all PGs. So If you say 17/8 is his ceiling in a system that property utilizes his strength, and call his ceiling a mere above average PG, I will have to strongly disagree with you.

But Jeremy is at a good place now with the Hornets, the coaching staff, and teammates and fans are all very supportive, let's see for ourselves just how good he can be in the right situation. The upcoming season is going to be very exciting indeed.

By your reasoning, then your telling me Jeremy is a 20 and 10 guy? Do you know how many pgs in the NBA avg 20 and 10? Lets not get carried away. 18 and 8 is borderline allstar.

I am not calling him a 20/10 guy, I am just saying based on his last season per 36 stats, 17/8 doesn't seem to be his ceiling.
What I am saying, if I am saying anything, is we should wait and see how he plays this season before making a judgement on his true potential. Know that he is getting better every season since he got into the NBA, and he is just getting into his prime years.

JLin took 1 shot (which he missed) in his first 10 minutes of play last night. That is not acceptable for a player who is shooting FG% .566 -- 3PT FG% .471.

it still feels like he is emphasizing getting his teammates going over taking over the game himself. That's fine for preseason, but hope to see a change in attitude so there is more of balance, once regular season starts

Let's wait until the season is over before putting a contract value on Lin. He will show during the year what his value is to the team. It's also not all about his stats. If he can make others around him better as he has shown like how he did in New York, there may be a team willing to pay for that as well.

Once he gets his head straight and takes care of his weaknesses, in the right system, he has the potential to be a top PG in this league IMO.

He misses a shot or two, makes an unforced TO, he becomes timid and doesn't play his game. He's getting better tho, last game he played scared in the 1st, laid low in the 2nd and 3rd, came out shining in the 4th. But things don't always work out like that, he has to play reasonably well at all times for a real PG. A scorer doesn't have to play well all the times. I am confident it should come with experience and maturity.

Play him 36 mins, complete free reign, always in a lineup with a big who can PnR/PnP, and 2 shooters he'll get you 18/10. With more offensive options available he wont be looking to score as much, but the other options will open the floor for him that when he does commit to attack he'll get easy wide open buckets.

He does look alot stronger this year, just by looking at his arms, hopefully that means he can finish stronger through contact and maybe shoot with less fatigue.
