I would be surprised if he went that far over 20. He's consistently been a 20 MPG player throughout his career. He'll start though.

Early on in the season, yes Hump will definitely exceed that number.

When Jared Dudley gets into shape, he will probably take more and more of the PF minutes and might be a better option than Hump in some matchups. But looking at him today, it will probably be another month at least before he's in 'shape'

Thanks.

@nuposse I had the same assessment of Miami earlier in the offseason. They want to play fast and get up threes, but they simply don't have the shooters and their best players (outside of Dragic) would rather slow things down. On the defensive end the same thing hurts them, they don't have the personnel to keep up with fast-paced teams.

I been keeping tabs on some of their box scores and their starters haven't been impressing me. 1st time getting to really watch them, I question how the team compliments each other. They need to probably make Wade into a 6th man and have a knock down shooter start next to Dragic. Outside of Whiteside, I don't think they'll be that good defensively. And I can't imagine Gerald Green will get a chance to school someone as raw as Oubre every night, lol.

Well it was mostly due to getting use to the line up since it was only the 2nd game of them playing together.

But I agree, should have sat em down regardless.

Spoelstra should probably be trying to rest Wade and Bosh as much as possible. He doesn't need Wade to be driving the lane against the likes of Josh Harrellson late in the fourth quarter of a preseason game.

Spo is stubborn, never was a fan of his.

It's a group of old guys who don't get back on defense. Whiteside 4 fouls in 20min tonight, he needs to find a way to stay on the court long enough to have a significant impact.

This Heat team almost reminds you of the Brooklyn Nets team that was also supposed to 'take down Lebron'. In the sense that the big names probably outstrip how it will actually look on the court. ESPN will continue to hype them, but wouldn't surprise me to see Miami finish at a 6-8 seed, or worse if injuries hit.

If the Wizards cut DeJuan Blair this year, would they have to pay him for the team option in his contract next season? Trying to get a sense of what the cost would be to cut him in order to keep Harrellson.

Just forget Blair's preseason play so far. Three games, 39 points, 25 rebounds off the bench.

Cut him. Sure.

He's in the same kind of shape as when he had 20 points and 20 rebounds in a regular season game.

I was definitely encouraged after this game. Our starters absolutely dominated when they were in, and that's without Beal. Our bench was terrible, but that's to be expected when Temple and Oubre are asked to play big minutes. When we are closer to full health the bench should be solid at the very least

Gerald Green's salary this year with Miami is about $1,350,00...great value.

For the record, when Wall, Porter, Gortat, Dragic, Wade and Bosh were all on the floor, the Wizards outscored the Heat 52-40.

The Heat outscored Washington 20-10 in the final 6:22 when they had Bosh, Dragic and Wade on the floor and we didn't have any regular starters (other than Humphries for a little while).

Their bench outplayed our bench by about 7 points. Their bench has some strong veterans like Chalmers, Green, McRoberts and Anderson. Our bench was depleted without Beal, Nene and Anderson so we had the likes of Temple and Oubre getting significant time, and Gooden playing center.

Gotta think this bodes well for the regular season.

If I recall correctly, Beal has done a real good job of containing Wade over the past 2 years or so.

I was struck by the (last season) team stats espn posted during the game last night. Yes MIA had
one major injury last year to their best player and didn't have Dragic for the whole
season but they still got a lot of improving they'll need to do before they can be
a factor. At least that is the implication I would take away from those stats.

Agreed. I'm finding it hard not to be giddy about our prospects this year.
We've been top shelf defensively for a couple years. Now, at least based
on preseason and more small sample ie postseason from last year, our
offense has blossomed. Clearly that suggests that we should win a lot
of games.

Our defense helped, but Gerald Green looked like the best player in the game last night. Deng did nothing and has been on the decline for a few years. Wonder if Miami can stay with him as the starter.

Gotta love the Heat going full try hard to win a pre season game. They're afraid of us.

Can't wait to pound them in the regular season.
