To defend my popcorn comment. I've always hated Nicholson. From day 1.

Inexplicably? Its his defence dude. He cant play it. Two coaches now have seen it and he isn't worth a pinch as long as he isn't going to be at least half good on that end. Whether or not he can accept this simple fact will determine if he plays in he NBA moving forward. Unfortunately for him, it seems hes taking the opposite approach, and actually called out Jacque for not using him right last season, rather than accepting some responsibility and acknowledging his post defence is worse than Kevin Love's.

Yeah, a real murderer's row of rim protectors he's stuck behind...

Exactly! So the fact he cant get on the court is even worse given this is all he has to beat!
My point is he needs to face facts and own his weaknesses and try to improve upon them, and if he doesn't, he only has himself to blame.

Re: Melvin Ejim Waived :(
Greg Stiemsma was waived and now the question is if The Magic keep Nnanna Egwu makes the team as the 15th man?
Either way, he will probably be in the Erie either signing outright or being sent down as part of the 15 man roster. He has some raw defensive potential and will not be guaranteed until January if he makes the team so that 15th spot would still kind of be open.
On Melvin Ejim, I thought he had a shot but believe The Magic did not have room for another swing man and want that 15th spot to be occupied by a center.
Andrew Nicholson has no future with this team beyond this season. It's always possible they buy him out or use his salary in a trade. Nothing against Nicholson but I never liked his selection and felt even though he has had injuries that Jared Sullinger would have been a better pick.
Hopefully, The Magic and Nicholson can part ways by The NBA Trading deadline either via a trade or buyout so he can see if he can make it somewhere else and The Magic can bring in someone who might have a future here or could provide depth during the playoff push.

I also see Egwu as the last roster decision.
1) Should Orlando keep Egwu and have him develop in Erie? or
2) Free up the roster slot so they can ink a vet when another player goes down to injury?
Clearly Egwu is showing something in the practice room, or we would not even be ghaving this conversation. But isn't his game redundant to Dedmon's?
It's a tough., tough call. As Egwu has a so-called "make-good" contract, I think he will make the opening-night roster.
If he makes the team, I would project our 2015/16 Orlando Magic opening night roster to have the following depth line:
Payton/Watson/Napier
Oladipo/Fournier
Harris/Hezonja/Marble
Gordon/Frye/Nicholson/Smith
Vučević/Dedmon/Egwu
(in blue is the main rotation in the early season, and by mid-season, Orlando should go to a full 10-an rotation by playing the rookie regular minutes)
A couple thoughts on this.
1) It is great that Marble made the team. Well done.
2) Frankly I am shocked Nicholson is still in Magic blue.
3) The lack of great depth at the wing bodes well for Fournier to carve out good minutes, and eventually Hezonja.
4) Orlando has six players that can man the PF slot and yet this is still the biggest question mark for the team.
In the immortal words of former-GM Smith, "I like this team."

You: Inexplicably? It's his defense!
Me: The guys that ARE getting minutes don't play defense...
You: Exactly, that proves how bad his defense is!

Either way, Egwu will spend time in Erie and the 15th spot is still open with Egwu having a non-guaranteed deal.
I agree on the depth chart with the exception of Jason Smith being ahead of Andrew Nicholson.
On your thoughts........
Marble making the team is well-deserved as he was pretty much guaranteed a spot last year.
Andrew Nicholson has no future here and I can see them making a move with him or agreeing to a buyout by the Trading Deadline.
I do think the depth is solid at the wings and will improve as the guys develop.
My feeling on the power forward position is they want Aaron Gordon and Tobias Harris up front and have always felt what they did in The Draft reflected a lot about what they thought of Aaron Gordon.
In the next Draft, they probably will try to go big but I think Mario Hezonja will be wonderful and not make The Magic think twice about passing on Willie Cauley-Stein or Myles Turner.

Have you forgotten about $80 million to Paul Millsap? The front office believed it was better to buy a power forward in this league. Too bad it didn't work out.

Re: Melvin Ejim Waived :(
I don't know if Drew can find a place on our team. He'd fit in better on a team like the Spurs.
I wish a interviewer would ask Skiles what's going on with Drew and when/how/if will he see play time. It would be interesting to hear what the issue is. I assume it's defense.

That is true.
Millsap would have been everything this team needed at the 4 minus a shotblocker.
It is a good point but I feel Aaron Gordon could be the guy The Magic need at the 4.

I would have rather give Ejim a chance then keep Marble around.

So a 14-man roster it is. With Egwu out, Orlando has more flexibility to react to injury concerns. I guess that makes sense.

Likely.
The only reason to keep someone if the 15th is if they had a ton of upside or a guaranteed contract.
The Magic will be good at 14 and I guess the drama roster wise each night will be who is the inactive player if everyone is healthy.

Many of us thought he'd have a shot to make the team.
Devyn Marble beat him out though. It's possible Ejim could get a call up this season though.
