Tough schedule to start

Post#1 » by aad » Sat Oct 24, 2015 11:59 pm

We have a tough schedule to start the season

Hawks-I cant see us winning this game they play tough defense and good team ball

JAZZ-They a good young team with al lot of upside I think we can win this one at home

Bulls-They used to scare me but it seem like they coach want them to be a more offensive team I think we got a chance in this one

Pacers-I know we didnt play as hard and good in the preseason against them but we at home and if we cant keep PG13 under control we should win

Then we go on the road for six straight and then come and face lebron not good

What do yall think?

Absolutely brutal.

4 of our first 11 is what I'd love to see.

The Bulls will be better this year, not worse.

After the ATL game I don't think our next small stretch of games is terribly difficult. A bunch of middle of the road teams imo. Utah, Chicago, Indiana, Phoenix, and Portland are all winnable with Chicago being the toughest game. I could see us having a good record after those games. Possibly even over .500 if we click right away. After that it gets tougher with just about every other game being against a higher tier team. Getting off to a good start in those first six games will be important if we don't want to fall behind and get stuck battling back to .500 for most of the season.

I know we're a completely different team with completely different players, but even when we were winning year in and year out, we could never beat the Jazz. I still carry those scars and always assume every Utah game will end in a loss.
Tom Gores' Securus faced a class action lawsuit in 2024. The company engaged in a "quid pro quo kickback scheme" with county jails in Michigan which banned in-person visits in order to maximize revenue from voice and video calls.

I remember always losing to them even when we were contenders. Wasn't it like a 20 game win streak or something absurd like that they had on us at one time?

Looking at our first 11 games, 5 wins would be a great start for us (5-6 through a tough opening stretch) but more realistically I see us winning 4 games and losing 7 to start the season.

The first ten games are very mild in terms of competition (only 5 games against playoff teams from last year, one of which is absolutely not making it this year. portland) with only 4 of those 10 that in my opinion will make it this year. This is only a tough first ten games because it is also our longest road trip of the season right out of the gates and a western one. If the boys stutter in coming together as a team the worst I see is 5-5.

The key game in this to see how the rest of the 10 games will go is that home game against Utah. Our first two games are back to back (that is such horsecrap)one on the road to a team we just played (again horsecrap. Why do a home away preseason season game?)making it tougher.

I personally see it shaking out like this;

1.)Atlanta-L
2.)Utah-W
3.)Chicago-W
4.)Indiana-L
5.)Phoenix-W
6.)Portland-W
7.)Golden-L
8.)Sacramento-W
9.)Clippers-L
10.)Lakers-W

Now I'm expecting either an unexpected win, or loss making us either 5-5 or 7-3.

Those ten games are going to tell us alot about this team early on. Longest road trip if the year, and some good teams in there.

I agree, as we all know, everyone in the country hates Detroit and our teams. This schedule will remove us from the playoff conversation by the third week of the season.

If they go 5-5 it would be a great accomplishment. 6-4 would turn some heads around the league. 7-3 would be koolaid time.
You need 2-way wings, 2-way shooting bigs, and you can't allow low iq players on the court. Assist/turnover ratio is crucial. Shooting point guards are icing on the cake IF they are plus defenders.

I want to say 8-2, I feel 8-2, I know how good this team is going to be but I will refrain and stick to my original statement in this very thread.

Beginning and end of the season are hard gaugers for team difficulty. There's just as much of a chance that teams aren't fluid going into the season the same way we aren't. I think we've played some good basketball and some bad. It's just a matter of momentum going into the season. We have the same team going against us Tuesday. They sat out their starters and we'll know the difference Tuesday. I still think we have a good chance to win. We have Drummond and I think he's bringing it this game. Last game he dominated in 17 mins. I think we have our lineup set and ready. Take it one game at a time and try to gain momentum as much as possible.

Yes. I agree with one thing and that all these games are winnable and I think we'll go 500. All these games are going to be situational. Some we'll come out firing and some we'll come out tired. The only locked losses I see are Atlanta, Golden and Clippers. But even then it's al situational.

Guys, difference with this team is we started out horribly because it was an ill-matched team, no shooting. The team this year always has a fighting chance as long as they put in effort cuz in the end, we can make shots. That's what the system is about and all there is left to do is to put your effort on defense and move the ball. Stan made the offense easy. Our defense will be the telling story of our record. This is compared to last year when we couldn't buy a bucket.
