Our New, More Three-Heavy Offense

Post#1 » by LamarMatic7 » Sat Oct 24, 2015 10:19 pm

A thread to discuss our infusion of three-point shooting, how it works when compared to Alfense, whether we ever shown signs of going back to it when things aren't going well, etc.

Here I did a write-up on the creative sets we have been using during preseason. The team has really ran some fun stuff, I like seeing the way we use shooters:

These back-screens on pick-n-roll defenders might be my favorites. Great way to muck things up, force an undesired switch and get a shooter in a good position:

Amazing write up as usual. I love the new offense and hope we continue to see this. I feel like the offense has so much more flow and suits all of our players better. I also feel like we now have players in the 1st and 2nd units that can play in the offense without as much of a drop off.

Hi Lamar, great stuff, what's your thoughts on Lamb's defense, I don't like what I saw but maybe it's that first Clippers game where he got destroyed by the Clippers screens that over influence my judgment (that is admittedly a very hard task)

Yeah, Lamb has seemingly never proven that he can defend at a good level.

He's not as bad as Hairston or Daniels though. That sort of gives him the upper edge on both sides of the court among the true two-guards we have.

His rebounding is good, however. That does count for a lot on the defensive end. He has a knack for being at the right place.

Daniels, on the other hand, had a very good Defensive Rating in preseason, second on the team.

I am ready for the season to start!

and that he can actually score the ball in ways other than set shot.

he's certainly ahead of of Daniels / PJ, just that I'm not sure i'd trust him with major rotation minutes anyway.

it would be quiet difficult if our second best player at guarding 2s this year is Jeremy Lin.

ATH wrote a similar article today as well

You've got some competition Lamar. The rest of the Hornets bloggers are trying to catch up to the high bar you've set.
