Degrom, Harvey, Thor, Matz

Think that makes the most sense.

I hear they're considering Harvey, deGrom, Thor, Matz because Jacob is a little fatigued and pitching Harvey second gives him too much extra rest which isn't good. Whatever. Our four starters are better than theirs regardless of the order.

I liked the Blue Jays better, but it's a little relief that they didn't comeback from that series. That would've meant their batters would come in hot with momentum their way.

Royals are supposedly the best fastball hitting team. All the Mets starters are fastball pitchers.

I'm really nervous for the Mets! I really hope they can do it. I never thought they would've been here this year, but they are.

Hopefully the added rest from the sweep benefits our starters. Braves were the last team (1995) to sweep a team in a LCS and then actually win the world series. But I think if the added rest helps our starters and they are hot, the Mets will be the next team able to accomplish that.

I think the rest will benefit DeGrom, Thor, Matz, and Familia. I think it will may hurt Harvey.

For the batters, it should help Cespedes since his shoulder needs to recover a little bit. I don't think the rest will help Duda unfortunately, who looked to be on a streak. I'm not sure about Murphy. For everybody else, I don't think it will make a difference.

What about Conforto? He's a good fielder, but hasn't done well at the plate. What do you guys say? Keep him in the order against righties or try Lagaras?

A big xfactor will be Cuddyer imo who will likely be the DH in away games. C'mon Cuddyer! They signed you so you could more than just a locker room guy. Let's see the bat work.

Looks like Harvey might get Game 1 start, which I don't see anything wrong with.

DeGrom was battling a lot in his last two starts.. Many RISPs. That could be costly against a speedy team like the Royals.

Only Terry Collins knows the best choice.

I guess you can sum it up like this. If the Mets don't have a lead heading into the 7th inning, it is a loss.

Royals have the better bullpen, baserunning, defense, and probably offense (though no Morales in NL).

Mets have the better starting pitching easily.

I guess in an ideal world for the Mets, every starter needs to go at least 7 and leave with a lead.

Gonna be tough.

Going into the series, we would have probably preferred the Blue Jays, however, as you said, if TOR would have won the series a) it would mean their team is on Murph-like fire and b) it would mean the entire team is in rhythm and clicking for Tuesday.

Now Royales with Cheese will have to wait 3 off days prior to Tuesday which is good for their pitchers, but bad for their bats.
Are they a good fastball hitting team? Sounds like it, but our guys are not just straight fast balls (DeGrom perhaps is the most like that).

If the Royals were not great, they would not have made it here. We just gotta do what we do and hope Murpheus continues the prophecy.

IMO I think the progression should be DeGrom, Harvey, Thor because then we crescendo our speed. DeGrom also goes deepest into innings

there is absolutely no guaruntee you get to game 7. I am not sure why you have to assume that all 7 game series go 7 games??? that doesn't happen.

If the mets lose game in 6 games and have degrom only pitch once in a 6 game series you would be fired as a manager the next day. Saying it wasn't meant to be that we didn't get to game 7 is not a valid excuse. Degrom will pitch either game 1 or 2.

i meant game 2 and game 6 degrom.

so Harvey->Degrom|||Thor->Matz->Harvey|||Degrom->Thor

What I thought

Harvey->Degrom|||Thor->Matz->Harvey|||Degrom->Thor

im fine with the rotation. But Degrom was fatigued, only reason is they want to give Degrom an extra day. If he wasn't he would be pitching game 1 and rightfully so.

At this point we have 3 guys who could arguably pitch game 1 which is better than anything the royals can throw out there.

Let go mets.

I really don't like Syndergaard for Game 7.. he's not a bad pitcher by any means but he's the youngest of our 3 aces and I just don't trust him yet.

I think Degrom or Harvey should get the potential Game 7..
