Week 7: Jets @ Patriots | Sun, Oct. 25th | 1PM | CBS

You better know how to bend the rules without breaking them. The team we're about to play next doesn't really give a **** about either of those.

Image

That's right, we're going to Foxborough to play against Tom Brady and the Patricheats, with a chance to overtake the division lead.

QB: Ryan Fitzpatrick vs. Tom Brady
RB: Chris Ivory vs. Dion Lewis
WR: Brandon Marshall vs. Julian Edelman

The key to this game will be air attack, on both sides. Patriots have a dangerous receiving game as always with Tom Brady on the field, so we will have to limit their passing in order to better stop their ridiculous offense. On the flipside, the Pats have a weakened secondary due to guys leaving in FA and also being injured. If Fitz can run a solid pass game to Marshall and Decker, we have a chance to put up points against them.

Either way, the Jets usually play the Pats really well and we're gonna see a competitive game. This is also the first time we see Bowles vs. Belichick. I'm looking forward to it. Let's go win a football game!

If there's one unwritten rule to know in sports, it's that you should never guarantee a victory. Sheldon Richardson of the New York Jets just broke that unwritten rule with his team set to take on the undefeated New England Patriots on the road.
"This is going to be another win for us. We’ll let you all write the columns about validating wins and stuff like that," Richardson told Metro. "This is going to be another win in the win column if we go out there and execute and do what we’re supposed to do."

Not sure how I feel about this. On one hand, I kinda like it from an entertainment standpoint and some teams really get energized by this sort of stuff...but honestly, why bark up that tree? I don't think Bowles is gonna be happy about it.

Can't have a poor half like the Jets did against Washington. Offense needs to play energized for all four quarters and need to take care of the ball. They also need to get the ball to Ivory and also try to attack their secondary.

Defense needs to do what they've been doing. Pressure Brady and the secondary needs to limit his options, particularly those mid cross patterns from Edelman, Amendola, and Gronkowski. Hopefully doubling Gronkowski and letting our secondary take care of Brady's other options (especially jamming them at the line) is enough.

Weatherford SHOULD be an upgrade over Quigley (By the way, what's Brandon Fields been up to lately?). Special teams as a whole has been a weakness for the Jets this season. They really need someone to emerge as a returner.

It won't be easy and I'm gonna keep my hopes at bay, but Jets can win this.

This game will be won at the line on both ends. Putting Brady under pressure is an easier strategy than counting on the secondary to contain those weapons while Brady looks for openings. On the other end, Ivory is the key every week and even moreso this week. If the Jets can have short easy third downs, it'll really help to keep that Pats offense off the field and rest our defensive guys. Special Teams...just don't give away points please?

Bowles has some good men around him to catch that challenge.

Seems like Pryor is everywhere today and delivering big hits. Special Teams is setting us up to fail at this point. The defense is doing a solid job but has to get those third down stops...as I type Pace makes a big play, nice. Great call to challenge Bowles.

DeMario just saved a FG against for us. Bowles so far has shown an ability to make second-half adjustments, and we're still very much in this game. Hopefully we take over things from here and stun them on the road.

Jets really need to look at Brandon Fields after this game. He's a better punter than Quigley and Weatherford. Still, gotta get them to tackle as well.

Offense has hit a wall with Ivory injured. Gotta pray he's alright. Hopefully Bowles and Gailey get the offense going at the half.

Night and Day offense when Ivory is doing his thing or when he's hobbled.

Marshall has to reel that in, but I'll take that 3pts.

Damn, Marshall dropped that easy 6! Can't keep leaving points off the board against this team.

Make the defensive stop here and score on the next drive. All you can do. Costly drop by Marshall though.

I guess I get the no timeouts, nah, I really dont, but nobody guarding Gronk? Absolute worst scenario.

Tough loss, NE did give us a lot of gifts with the Drops and we just could not take Advantage...

The biggest reasons for the loss are our absolutely atrocious Special Teams (NE almost started every drive near their own forty) and the inability of our D to put consistent pressure on Brady. Bull rush after bull rush is not gonna cut it, we just have no edge rusher that gets to the QB... Pace and Coples are just way too slow, a pain to see them lumber around the Corner...

Secondary could not react after the loss to Pryor and they played scared in the fourth...
Hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things. And no good thing ever dies...

Such a winnable game. Along with what you guys said, that 3rd and 17 was a killer.
