Flip was the first name of a coach I ever knew, before Phil Jackson, Larry Brown, etc. I feel like i've known him since the 03-04 season and this made me tear up a bit knowing the basketball world lost a great mind, great person and great father. I know Ryan Saunders will carry on the legacy and excellence of NBA coaching. I know he'll be watching the dynasty he created in a better place. Rest in peace, Flip.

Very sad. RIP Flip. What a tough year for his family. Prayers go out to him. Want to thank him for all the work he has done for my favorite team. Almost every single good thing that has ever happened to this team he has been there. Definitely retire his number. It is going to be really tough on opening day. Just shocked at how fast things turned.

I feel horrible. This is devastating to every long term fan of the Timberwolves. This is devastating to the NBA. Most of all this is utterly devastating to the friends and family of Flip Saunders who lets not forget, just recently said goodbye to Flip's father. Everything I have heard about Flip has been pure class and kindness. He was loved by many, probably even a father figure to KG and most certainly instrumental in his development as a man.

This is the kind of loss people never really really recover from. The organization will have a heavy heart all season long. I'm thankful that we had Flip back here again for the few years we have had him and I am thankful that he put his all into putting this team in position to win. May he RIP and continue to spread his extremely positive influence for many years to come through his kids and the people he touched.

He gave everything to this team, to us. This team will be forever his team, we all know it. Because he took this poor team, disgraced by NBA fortune and changed everything, he brought hope here. RIP Flip.

Dunkz After Dark, introducing the rookies at the State Fair, bringing KG home. Flip packed a bunch of fun moments into last year's tanking season. Good coach, good eye for talent, good promoter.

Yea I really felt after last season, his marketing skills were under appreciated. He was really great with that. I think he would have made a lot of great things happen for us going forward he was really good at the business side of things. Great at drafting, promoting, heck, coaching may have been his biggest weakness and he was good at that

Flip was a gem.

Wow. I saw his name trending and just kind of thought "huh, that's odd". Then remembered he was sick.

Just terrible. Good coach and good person from everything I have heard. I **** hate cancer.

They probably shouldn't have stressed how treatable and curable Hodgkin's is in that press release. It has an 85% 5-year survival rate. A 15% chance of dying is serious. I had to leave canis hoopus because i was so disgusted they were making Continental Diamond jokes about Flip's "I have cancer" press release.

I just lost my dad, who was a basketball coach, this May at age 59. HUGE wolves fan. Flip lost his dad about the same time. Our dads are the reason we won the lottery.

**** you cancer.
