My eyes are filled with tears as I remember all the great memories you have given me from playing for the Gophers when I was a boy in Brooklyn Center practicing my left-handed dribbles in my basement and listening to games on the radio to coaching my favorite team nearly 40 years later. RIP and know that you will be missed.

He worked so hard to turn this franchise around. It breaks my heart that Flip will never see KAT and Tyus play an nba game or see Wiggins and KAT on the court together. Thank God he was able to bring KG home when he did and got to see him play again in a Wolves uni.

I'm shocked.

The saddest thing is that Flip won't get a chance to witness the likely turnaround of the franchise which was to a large share initiated by him.

Thank you Flip.

I am still in incredible shock. Rest in Peace flip. He single handedly turned this franchise around from terrible to hopeful.

I was completely surprised to hear this very sad news. First saw it on Facebook when I came across a status from LaVine - it took a little while for it to sink in. Rest in peace, Flip. Condolences to Flip's family as well - I can't imagine what they're going through. Despite being a relatively new Timberwolves fan I just know that this will only bring the pack closer together - I'm sure the players will play their hearts out for Flip. Thanks for the memories, Flip.

I can't imagine what KG is feeling. First Malik Sealy, now Flip.

The whole team needs to get around KG.
"That's why the last two years weren't guaranteed," Walsh said. "Either way, he knew it could have happened either way."

Wow what can I say? This man has been a huge presence in my life as a big fan of this team. I always admired his tenacity for the game and will remember him getting hired on as coach, to drafting KG and coming back. I went to high school with his son and always saw him around my hometown. My parents also knew his family and are also shocked by this. I'm so glad he got to see our franchise get the #1 pick for the first time ever! The last time I saw him was during the first scrimmage at Target Center this summer. RIP Flip, you will not be forgotten! If Sid Hartman can get a statue, Flip deserves one as well....

This is just a punch to the gut.

A friend and former boss both quickly succumbed to cancer within a few weeks of diagnosis.. and it still comes as a complete shock.

Just remember everyone...Whatever this Towns-Wiggins led team turns out to be, Flip will always get the rightful credit as the architect of it all
