Carmelo Anthony To Miami Heat? (Bill Simmons Prediction)

Post#1 » by walk with me » Mon Oct 26, 2015 3:15 am

So I'm listening to Bill Simmons most recent podcast that can be found in the itunes store and he (or his friend on the podcast) predicted that at some point around the mid-season Carmelo anthony would be traded to the miami heat... or the chicago bulls.

The trade that was thrown out was

Loul Deng
Josh McRoberts
and Justice Winslow

For

Loul Deng

If you were in the front office and the knicks called with this offer would you take it? And as a fan how do you feel about this trade?

We've talked about this exact trade for a while now. We even had a poll, I think the majority voted no to Melo though it'd be interesting to see the results now after seeing our guys (Deng, Justise, McBob) play some.

Honestly I'm not sure at this point. I trust Pat Riley and I'd be on board with whatever his plan is.

Carmelo is a volume scorer. He doesn't need space to operate and he doesn't need someone's help setting him up. He is a terrific 3pt shooter and really just a good jump shooter in general. 2.2/5.4 3pat 40.2% in 2014 good for 167 made 3's. He was efficient as well TS% of 56.1%

Melo is basically as old as Bosh, they both have around the same mileage and basically the same contract to put all of that in perspective.

Melo has a no trade clause so unless he asks for a trade its not happening but we'll see. If it happens it'll certainly be interesting.

You've changed your mind? I remember you being in the no to Melo camp.

Yeah I was against it pretty badly before lol But man, adding melo to this team with an anchor like Whiteside waiting in the post would be pretty lethal. Also this would be really good for Wade as well.

Our 2nd unit will take a hit, but we'll see.

Unless you think Winslow is the next D3 then no doubt we should do this

Melo has a no trade clause. Which is very bad for the Knicks. And very good for w.e team he is picking to go to.

I was also in the No Camp for Melo. But Justise isn't going to be the next anything, he is gonna be Justise. A low % shooter with good to above avg defense.

Mcbob I really don't care for. And Deng is our weakest link and I want him gone as well.

So if that's what we have to give up, il take it. Dragic Wade Melo Bosh Whiteside is a HELL of a starting 5. Now we are in business to do something.

But again, Melo would have to specifically ask to come here. Phil can only trade him where Melo would OK the trade.

So there is chance I suppose.

For this to happen Knicks need to get off to a TERRIBLE start. Melo knows his time is now, staying with the Knicks is a no win situation. They aren't winning anything for.....well Basically for ever really lol.

Melo would pick us over Chicago for SURE.
Thats not even close. But Melo does HAVE to demand it.

I think this would be a good look TBH. It's essentially melo for loul str8 up, the bigger question is do we want Carmelos contract for 4 years?

Melo >>>>>>>> Loul
Justice winslow has proved zero so far and based on what I'm seeing it might be a while before he proves anything.

I've loved Mcroberts on this squad since last year. He does everything very well but what he does on the 2nd unit I think would be made up for with the first unit. I would take our chances with this trade and hoping we can find a 3nD SG/SF and a younger back up 4 to take the pressure off UD/Amare/Bird. If we were able to pull this off I think we could become the favorites in the east.

If Melo DEMANDS a trade to Miami, we would have all the power and would have no need to give up Winslow in that trade.

Not true, Melo isn't an expiring, after this season Melo has 3 years left on his contract. The Knicks could just tell him to shove it if they didn't like the offers.

No way do the Knicks give us Melo without us giving up Justise, that'd basically be a salary dump for them if they got no upside in return.

Yeah, I mean the Suns got two first rounders for Dragic...no way the Knicks don't try to get something decent back.

Only Bill Simmons could come up with a lopsided trade like this. lol

But seriously, ESPN machine rejected this Melo trade. Salaries don't match. Need to throw in Bird or Rio or someone.

I will be torn.. don't want to give up on Justise or McBob just yet.. Deng seems like a bad fit for us though.. unless he can magically become a spacer for our offense, which is unlikely. Melo will probably demand a trade to team up with LeBron before he'd consider us though.

Dragic/Chalmers/Richardson
Wade/Johnson
Melo/Green/Ennis
Bosh/Amare/UD
Whiteside/Birdman

I'm definitely down. I know it's early but I don't see the potential in Winslow at all. Of course this would take us out of the Durant running but there's no way of knowing if we can get him or not. I'd much rather trade Birdman than McRoberts if possible but if not I'd be ok with the trade listed above. We then would have 2 free roster spots open and would need to add a back up 4 preferably so we could keep Amare/Birdman as the backup centers and add a shooter for security.

Just like i said before. It makes a lot of sense for Carmelo to become a Heat. If you want to win now thats all you need. Forget Durant that ain't happening in2016

if you put in ennis it works... per the trade machine.

Doesn't getting Carmelo get in the way of paying Hassan (and possibly other free agents) next summer?

I really don't like the idea of having all these older players on max/near-max contracts.

call me crazy but this could be interesting to NYC.... maybe even more interesting than taking on mcroberts deal which they have to sit with for 2-3 more years.

Birdman-Ennis-Loul.... All gone next year

NYC brings on some nice youth to develop in winslow.

I would pull the trigger on this ASAPPPPPPPPP

Good point chamls. And Melo seems to be breaking down every year though it's hard to tell it's really his health or his team tanking its ass off. Probably both.
