Thank you for bringing this up. I went back and forth on adding the Rookie category, but ultimately decided against it since despite all of the hype with rookies we really don't have a measure for them on the NBA level yet. I had been considering adding the category when we do the next round of voting at the end of December after people have had a chance to see some of the guys in action. As of right now, though, it is too much speculation without having something to base it on at this level.

I may be wrong on this, but that is why I didn't add that category.

I want to thank everyone who chose to participate in this opening round. We will hold the next round of voting starting the last week of December running through the first week of January. We will see how opinions have changed after the first two months.

3. Tristan Thompson (15)

Top 3 Head Coaches

This second set of rankings comes from the total number of mentions on ballots.

3. Rick Carlisle (15)

There were 24 ballots submitted. Only categories with three choices listed were counted. If someone listed a tie for a choice I went with the first name listed.

I will do a full breakdown by each position next, but here are some notable things from this vote:

Anthony Davis and James Harden swept the first place votes in their categories.

Point Guard, Shooting Guard and Small Forward were all very consistent. Power Forward was very consistent in the first and second place votes, but showed a pretty wide variety of choices after that.

6th Man was the hardest to gauge at the beginning of the season judging from the number of choices listed.

I will do full breakdowns of each position in the next few days. Thank you again to everyone who participated in part one of four rounds of voting. Next up will be the end of December.
