I don't think it would be very successful anywhere in SC. Charleston\Greeville already failed once even though they signed some guys with Clemson\USC ties. (BJ Mckie was on Charleston & Tree Rollins was the coach for Greenville)

I find it hard to believe they'd seriously consider putting the team in Fayetteville unless they just blow them away with an offer.

The majority of people here are military transplants from all over the country with no regional ties to Carolina basketball. I haven't met many other people who even like basketball. There's a lot of potential from alcohol sales though.

Haven't really spent any time in Greensboro, but it has pretty good proximity to some of the more major cities in NC without the issue of being a sports town already so it would be a pretty good location

The Greensboro Bobcats would be hilarious. Make them wear the old Bobcats uniforms.

But it will probably end up something like:
Sting
Swarm
Stingers
YellowJackets

I like Sting.

others to add to Fat's list:
Green Hornets
Buzz
Hive

I am disappointed they didn't pick Asheville, but totally psyched that a DLeague team to nab and stash young talent is on its way!

Yes, Carolina Cougars would also be cool, as long as there arent any trademark issues with the ABA that would need to be resolved.

The Greensboro Coliseum Complex consists of 22,000-seat Greensboro Coliseum, 300-seat Odeon Theatre, the 167,000-square foot Special Events Center that includes three exhibition halls, a 4,500-seat mini-arena and eight meeting rooms, and the 30,000- square-foot Pavilion, located adjacent to the Special Events Center.

I assume games will be played at the 4,500 seat mini-arena and not the 22,000 full arena.

Pavilion

Known simply by one name (although acknowledged as Greensboro Coliseum Pavilion or Pavilion at the Coliseum), the Pavilion is a standalone exhibition hall adjacent to the Special Events Center. The 30,000 sq ft space is used monthly by the Super Flea Market. It also is used frequently by Guilford County Schools and the Central Carolina Fair. The Pavilion opened in March 2003. The project was designed by Sutton-Kennerly Associates and cost $625,606. In 2016, the Pavilion will be the home to the Charlotte Hornets' new NBA Development League team. To accommodate the team the Pavilion will need to be renovated with a permanent roof, new locker room, and retractable seating for 2,500. [17]
