Actually, he was great for us from the trade deadline when we acquired him until September. Check out his game logs from baseball-reference.

I just think, notwithstanding his excellent career numbers, he's not pitching well right now. I don't know if it's fatigue or mechanics or a mild injury, but he's not the same right now.

I watched a good amount of his outings since the beginning this season and he has been skating on thin ice and has been very fortunate this year. I feel like his high BB/9, HR/9, FIP, xFIP, and lessened K-rate, as well as GB% all back that up.

So, we get back to the question: if not Clippard, then who? Hope our starters can go at least 6 innings and go with Colon/Niese in the 7th, Reed as setup and then La Familia es todo?

Why not go either Niese or Colon for 2 IP and then let Familia close up shop?

I'm confident Harvey and DeGrom can finish 7 or 8.

Thor should finish 6 at least.

Matz will only finish 5.

Other than Familia getting the 9th, there's no other guy in our pen that I can trust enough to just give them an inning. I say just put whoever is the best matchup for those innings. Use those guys as specialist.

I think Terry is planning on using Niese solely to get out certain LH. Colon is certainly able to go more than one inning, but I get the feeling that he doesn't want to use Colon more as a middle innings guy who can go 3 or 4 innings in case a starter gets knocked out early. Kinda like the way Davey Johnson used Sid Fernandez in the '86 series.

I think Clippard is going to get one more shot. Who knows? The more I think about it, the more confused I get.

I think this is the best way to go. Reed is better against righties, Clippard better against lefties. Mix and match and keep them on a short leash, i.e. always keep somebody else warm in the BP in case the guy TC brings in doesn't have it.

Colon will surely be ready if one of the starters get rocked early.

Melo says he finds the Mets success story "inspiring."

Knicks' Carmelo Anthony sees similarities with Mets World Series team
BY STEFAN BONDY
NEW YORK DAILY NEWS Updated: Monday, October 26, 2015, 12:58 AM A A A

It wasn’t long ago that another New York sports team was selling hope over substance, building around a combination of youth and veterans while resisting the quick fix.

So can the Knicks draw inspiration from the World Series baseball team across the East River?

Carmelo Anthony thinks so.

“That’s very inspiring to me, what the Mets have done this season,” he said. “But that didn’t start this season. That was a process. That was a build that was happening the last couple of years. To see them now kind of at the pinnacle of the sport, it’s a good feeling. Even if you’re not a Mets fan and you’re here, it’s a good feeling.”

The similarities between the Knicks and Mets also extend to championship droughts (43 and 29 years, respectively), although only the Jets can claim in New York that they’ve tortured their fanbase longer than the Knicks.

“I don’t want to say it’s similar but you can see some similarities in that,” Anthony said. “The way that they kind of broke everything down and kind of rebuilt piece-by-piece and all of it came together at the right time. I don’t want to say we’re in a similar situation, but we are. Right now we put pieces together and we have to go out there and build that.”

Are any of you even going to watch the Knicks @ Bucks game tomorrow night, lol? I know I'm not! I'm already going to two Bucks games in the next few weeks, and the Mets make the World Series once every 15 years.

no mets fan is going to watch the knicks game on wed. Just can't do it.

I will record it and hopefully watch it right after with a smile on my face after the mets go up 2-0 in the series.

the NBA really screwed up though. How are you going to compete with the world series? They should have opened up on Thursday night because they obviously had to know the World Series schedule that gets made well in advance and doesn't change.

I get NBA League Pass to watch the Bucks all year, but not even going to watch this one. Giannis has to sit out the opener, thanks to that douchebag rogue thug Dunleavy and the bastard Bulls. In that playoff game, Dunleavy punched three of our players, no refs saw it, Giannis had enough, and knocked Dunleavy off the court. Dunleavy wasn't suspended at all. The Bulls make my skin crawl, F that team. Jordan can take his 6 trophies and stick them in his ass.

Not ready for basketball, at all. Go Mets.

By virtue of being a Packer fan in Illinois, I am not at liberty to cheer on any teams from Chicago. This dates back to the 80's and especially 1985. The Mets were on TV a lot around here, starting in about '84 or so. Then when 1986 happened, I just went nuts, stuck with them ever since. Teufel was my fave player and I wear his jersey regularly. For hockey, much like football, I like to support the smallest market, so my team has always been the Quebec Nordiques. Hopefully, they are back soon.

So yeah, me and my teams are a weird mix, and only the Packers and Bucks are geographically close. But, just the way it's always been.
