Overall, that was a very fun season opener. Wouldn't mind seeing more of Dragic or Wade playing with the bench. I don't like watching Rio run the offense (even with Winslow/McDreamy helping out).

Like bruh, just grab your rebounds and play solid d. Even if you get ZERO points, someone will pay you $15mil/year MINIMUM.
Hassan is a narcissist, his ego is really up there. Common for people to feel agitated and frustrated/moody when things don't go their way. He needs to really channel that and he'll be fine.

Yeah, I don't mind the over-confidence, but I hope he can control things to the point where they don't have to bring Haslem in...

Enjoyed GG's poise as well. Missed 4-5 shots straight but his confidence was always off the charts. All it takes is one basket to set him off

Eh, its the first game. Remember last year Spo trusted Shabazz late in games at the start of the season.

True. I should probably reel back the Green hype a bit lol.

+26 & 7 rebs for Winslow.
Amazing man. Watching this dude on both the offensive and defensive end is great to watch. Great debut for the rookie.

I understand Hassan's disdain. At times you watch them play and he's posting up calling for the ball and they don't feed him. Wade is the only one who really makes a concerted effort to get him the ball. Team is going to have a major problem on their hands if they don't keep him involved in the offense because he will check out.
He doesn't want to just rebound and block shots, and I don't blame him.

I think there is a fine line to walk, you can't expect someone to do all of the ugly stuff like cleaning up other peoples mistakes and not get rewarded with touches. I mean how do you think he feels when he's putting in all this effort on D while Gerald Green comes out of nowhere and is allowed to hoist shots up with reckless abandon.
I think Hassan just needs to get a couple of solid games under his belt to start feeling good. We'll have to deal with some things as the year goes on but I think it'll be worth it.

They ran three plays for him in the first five minutes of the game...resulted in two turnovers and a missed jumpshot early in the shot clock. That's a good number of plays...I'm not sure why that would make him emotional.

Solid job with the minute spread. Green got 1 more minute than Wade. No starter had more than 32.
Would like to see Hassan more though.

And? Green missed his first 4 shots and ended up with 19 points. You don't just abandon the guy because of a few early mishaps. He played like 9 minutes in the first half, of course he was upset.

Anybody know where to get a good gif of the Winslow dunk?

Re: Charlotte Hornets @ Miami Heat Oct 28 at 7:30 - RUHHH OHHH CLASS IS BACK IN SESSION AND WE GOT SOME NEW KIDS!!!
My recap:
Things I loved:
Justise Winslow. The defense, the passing, the dunk, the 3, the poise. If this kid was in Denver or somewhere where he was going to get 32 MPG he would probably average 6 rebounds, 4 assists & hustle his way into 13ppg. Sky is the limit. This kid looks like he belongs & has the look of a kid who has a high likelihood of not getting smacked by the rookie wall AS HARD as most rooks.
The depth & minute distribution. Everybody seemed to stay fresh, I don't anticipate it is sustainable for us to have our top minute player be just a shade over 30 minutes but any time we can get that kind of balance in a win that is a very good sign. especially considering we didn't see Birdman OR Amare.
Chris Bosh. Loved to see him grabbing boards & staying confident offensively even though he didn't particularly shoot well.
Goran Dragic looked as comfortable & confident/aggressive as he has looked since last season. His stat line was nothing eye opening but if you watched the game you saw the things that he does well that we so desperately need. 6:1 Assist to TO ratio is also very good to see. He is the one guy that I want to push the ball towards the goal whether he has numbers on the break or not. GO GO GORAN.
Gerald Green's offense off the bench. He takes shots, he takes ALOT of shots, but he also MAKES shots. and you know what, on this team, with aging superstars & other key contributors who have offensive limitations, we NEED him to take shots and score points. Seems to be a perfect situation and role for him and he showed effort on both ends also.
Things I did not love:
Hassan Whiteside in the 1st half. He started with 2 turnovers, an ill advised jump shot that was clearly out of the context of the offensive set we were running and although it was a ticky tack call he picked up a foul on Al Jefferson on a face up jumper and then got torched on consecutive possessions by Big Al early on. I expect Al Jeff to give anybody trouble but just hated to see it rattle Hassan (or so it seemed).... He got frustrated fast and was pressing. Spo yanked him after 4 minutes & from what I heard UD got on Hassan a little during a timeout. This kid has to understand we aren't going to run the offense through him & he can't be so up and down from an emotional standpoint.
I know for a fact that this summer the Heat were pleased with the basketball work he did in the facility all summer but a couple folks in high places also were underwhelmed with how he responded to conversations surrounding handling expectations & staying even keel. He didn't dismiss those conversations or anything like that but those who worked with him felt like maybe he was listening but not "hearing". (White Man Cant Jump reference).
Anyhow, good win, on to crapland.
