I know the entire ' Fire Gibbons' jokes around here, but I'm actually curious to see if the GM Shapiro hires will want to bring his own manager to run the team.

Should be an interesting off season to say the least.

Apparently it wasn't about money so I'm guessing he didn't want to butt heads with Shapiro while working on deals.

Now I wonder if him dealing so many prospects last season was a way of going all in knowing it would be his last season there, and clearing the table for his successor.

that indeed was one of the insider quotes going around twitter this AM. that during their 1st meeting, Shapiro scolded AA for trading away so many prospects.

what a mess.
don't know what GM would want to come here. pitching takes a sharp decline. you have 2 of your 5 starters coming back

If Shapiro really did give AA grief over trading too many prospects this year, we're in for some dark years ahead, I fear.

Given the implications of management wanting a slimmer payroll (see Shapiro's focus on keeping young players under long term control), I'm pessimistic that we'll make any significant moves for pitching on the free agent market. Can't help but feel like we could indeed be in for another 22 years of futility.

So we traded a great GM for a run of the mill president.

Sounds about right.

My favourite Toronto exec in any sport ever. Shame he's leaving.

I can see Gibby just leaving the club cause AA is no longer here and Terry Francona exercising his out clause with Cleveland to join the Jays.

Minasian is the director of pro scouting. So this won't necessarily spell disaster for the Jays success with the amateur draft.
9. Similarly, IF THOU HAST SPENT the entire offseason predicting that thy team will stink, thou shalt not gloat, nor even be happy, shouldst thou turn out to be correct. Realistic analysis is fine, but be a fan first, a smug smarty-pants second.

Gibby isn't just going to leave, but he very well might be asked to leave.

You're absolutely joking me right? Because AA never wanted young players under team control? Seriously did people only start paying attention to this team in August?
