Blake Griffin, LMA. Duncan and Howard when they were in their primes. Wade and LeBron hit 3's but neither are great shooters.

Simmons is a 3 in the NBA - complete liability as a 4. LeBron is 100 times the shooter - Wade is the best comp out of your group.

I'd be very scared of relying on Ben Simmons to be my franchise player.

Jaylen Brown, Brandon Ingram territory potentially. And then GSW makes Harrison Barnes available because they don't want to resign him. Which of those 3 would you prefer?

I've advocated trading for Barnes recently, but I wouldn't give up a pick nearly this high for him simply because his contract will be huge and a rookie will be on a controlled deal. Both are a gamble on potential paying off, so better to take a chance on the rookie with the smaller deal.

I am a Barnes fan as well. It is a tough question for me, though he is an RFA right, so the scenario would be trading before the deadline this year and the pick would still be up in the air though probably a good idea where it is...or trading the rights to who ever we pick next July in a sign and trade. In the second scenario, we probably need a fair bit of Salary to ship to GSW in trade, so the first is more likely IMO and not likely at all if GSW is playing well.

That said I think in this draft (still early) difference between 4 and 6 looks big to me. I think I would take my chances with Ingram or Brown over Barnes at this point, but if those guys are off the board and Skal and Simmons as well...I think I could be interested in trading the pick for Barnes. Circumstances of GSW being a young solid team that just won a championship and his RFA status make it all unlikely though.

Anyone else get a Victor Oladipo vibe from Troy Williams? I haven't watched much Indiana since Noah Vonleh's year, but I could see Williams having a breakout junior season like Oladipo. Lots of similar elements, great athlete, improved across the board his sophomore season, just needs to keep getting better at shooting and general awareness and decision making.

Could end up a top ten guy IMO.

He is more Josh Howard-lite, he needs to get his shot going asap at NBA level though, he could be a good energy forward, playing smallball PF, he has some Matt Barnes in him also.

Yeah Josh looked great when he first came into the league and then injuries took away a lot of his athleticism

Wondering if I had seen your post out of the corner of my eye and subconsciously absorbed it or if we genuinely came up with him independently.

Kentucky's blue-white scrimmage is airing on SEC network tomorrow(10/27) at 7pm if anyone is interested in that. Get a little scout in before the NBA stuff, eh? <3 you so much, Nets.

I am interested in seen Humphries, he is two years away but the kid can play, also intrigued if Wynyard is joining the team now or next year.

Kentucky is going to have spacing issues unless they play Lee from the bench, but the guy has been waiting to be a starter for 2 years already, so I guess they will likely start him and then make an early sub getting a perimeter guy in.

Likely,

Ulis-Briscoe
Murray-Hawkins/Mulder
Poythress-Matthews
Lee-Willis/Wynyard (?)
Labissiere-Humphries

They could be sneaky good if they play stretches of 3 wings and Poythress or Lee+Skal inside.
Would have really benefitted if Booker stayed one more year.

Yeah, not a comp so much as a player but just potential draft prospect arc. Nobody talked about Oladipo as a high level prospect until his junior year, when it appeared his skill caught up to his athleticism.

There are definitely some interesting prospects in that group. Qi has IMMENSE potential imo if he can manage to pack some muscle on his frame. Some former NBA players who played in China have called compared him to Anthony Davis.

^^ He sees that gaping whole in the rotation for a scoring combo forward. Seriously though it would be awesome if Simmons could influence all the good young players to want to play in Boston.

At any rate, thought this guy was intriguing last year.

@nbadraftblog: May not be a more underrated defender in college basketball than Daniel Ochefu. Size, strength, smarts, moves well

Stephen Zimmerman draft express preview. Looks pretty solid actually, his mold is in demand in the league for sure (skilled big who can D up a bit inside and out).

Let's say the Celtics have the first and fifth picks this year. Who do you want?
