Is Andrew Luck a bust?

Post#1 » by nybluemeadow » Tue Oct 27, 2015 7:24 am

With the success of Montana, Farve, Brady, Brees, Marino, Young, Wilson, Rodgers, etc... I have been against high draft pick QBs for along time.

Is Andrew Luck a bust? Or does he just need more time?

Lol.....no. He was great his first three years. He's off to a slow start this year due to an injury(and I think he's still hurt personally). The Colts franchise have also done a TERRIBLE job putting talent around him. Who are his best playmakers? Frank Gore and Andre Johnson? That would be great...if this were 2006.

He'll be fine.

Yeah, I'm sure you'd rather have him than RG3. Now THAT'S very likely a bust.

He is not a bust, but i don't think he will end his career as a HOFer. I think Luck will have the same career arch as a guy like Matt Schaub. Never an elite QB but a decent starter.

Russell Wilson is the guy we are going to be talking about as a HOFer 10 years from now.

I've been consistently critical of Luck long before it was fashionable. But there's no way in hell he's a bust. Overhyped? Absolutely. But being a top 10 QB in two of his first seasons is not a bust.

One thing: I see lots of folks mention his relative lack of weapons. Ty Hilton, Donte Moncrief, Dwayne Allen, Coby Fleener, Reggie Wayne (before a bad Luck throw ended his career), Hakeem Nicks. Those guys don't suck. His OL does though,

Running game needs more of a green light. Hand it off to Gore. 9 carries vs the Saints man?

Craziest question ever. His lack of success this season, with the Colts, is a direct result of poor management, from the owner to the GM to the poor head coach. Would've been nice to see the Colts give him a formidable offensive line, a respectable run game, and keeping Bruce Arians as the head coach to boot. Hindsight is 20/20, though, and booting Pagano in favor of Arians at the time would've given the media a lot of firepower considering how Pagano was returning from his trying battle with cancer.

Let's not forget that Luck is playing with badly injured shoulders and fractured ribs. That's no joke. He's a talented freak of a quarterback. He'll be in Canton one day.
