It's amusing to me to imagine the positive yosemiteben quotes that might have been if the team had brought CDR back.

"We know he played well with the team."
"Probably smart to bring back a part of the best chemistry year ever on such a small contract."
"You have to give the FO credit for going back to something that worked."

8-)

I feel like I've been pretty consistent with CDR and Adrien.

3 Hornets appeared:
52. Cody Zeller
51: MKG (would have been higher but got a 0 for this season)
47: Nic Batum

There were some ranks that surprised me. Paul George at 45 and Klay Thompson at 31 seemed low. Josef Nurkic at 27 and Elfrid Payton at 14 seemed high.

Here's the link: http://fivethirtyeight.com/features/the-53-best-franchise-players-in-the-nba/

These Carmelo rankings are a bit odd sometimes. There are a lot of random outliers. Elfrid Payton at 14 is just insane. I'd be surprised if he ever become a top 114 player.

Harrison is almost 8 years younger than CDR, has good to great size for a guard and showed a propensity for clutchness in college. He showed decent decision making and scoring ability in summer league, he actually surprised me by how well he played, and that length is a real asset on the defensive end if he can guard PGs. I don't feel like I need to explain a whole lot more, he's a decent prospect that most expected to be drafted in the 2nd round. When you are talking about your 15th roster spot, what's wrong with rolling the dice on a higher upside prospect?

Braggins wrote:Seriously, give me your comparison of CDR and Damien Wilkens that explains how Wilkins is better.

If Wilkins made the roster or there was any sort of argument that we chose him over CDR, you might have a point. Wilkins got the invite after MKG went down and after CDR had already signed a training camp offer with NOP.

Fair enough, but I really don't see the upside. I feel like Harrison's ceiling might not be as good as what CDR gave us and I really doubt he ever cracks an NBA rotation. He and CDR are basically the same size, but CDR is more athletic. He was also a better college player and has already proven he can contribute in the NBA on some level. Harrison didn't stand out at all in college. He sucked in summer league and didn't do anything in the preseason. Even when comparing him to other guys we tried out or are currently on our roster I find it hard to find a legit argument for why they would be better than CDR. Pj has been atrocious for two summer leagues, two preseasons, and one regular season. Daniels and Elliot Williams havent looked like rotation players at all at any point in their careers. Wilkins is absolute garbage. PJ and Daniels are the only ones of the bunch that I think would have any chance at all at making a roster other than ours and that is based almost entirely on their youth and the hope that they have some upside. I think you are putting way too much faith in our front office by assuming that they had good reason to go with other guys over CDR.

I am watching the Atlanta-Detroit game, and both teams are playing "four out." Detroit's offense looks very similar to the Hornets', but Atlanta's is trickier and more complex. A lot comes down to execution on that end of the court. In the first quarter, Detroit is hitting over 50%.

Pelicans starting Perkins, Nate Robinson and Dante Cunningham on opening night. What a dumpster fire next to Davis.

Biyombo fouled out last night in 16 minutes, and Noah scored 2 points with no rebounds and 2 fouls in 14 minutes (garbage time).

Yeah, I think we will be okay without them

Just going over some boxscores from last night... my dude CJ McCollum!!!!

Man, I was pretty bummed out when Portland didn't throw him in the Batum trade. I've thrown his name around the Fake Trade thread quite a few times over the last couple of years. Should have bought low. 37 points, 6-9 from three. Yeah, I know it's one game, but damn, sure sounds better than starting PJ effing Hairston.

They weren't going to give him up. They were going young.

wow that Dallas starting five is icky.

Dirk is playing with Raymond Felton, Jeremy Evans, John Jenkins, and Zaza Pachulia. This is not what he had in mind when he took that paycut.

I need to let it go about Lance, but watching them play tonight I can't believe he complained about us putting him in the corner. He sits in the corner and doesn't touch the ball on at least 80% of the plays he's been on the floor for.

Wes Matthews isn't playing on back 2 backs at the moment. Deron is getting babied at the moment too.

I didn't watch much because Dallas threw out a D League team last night. Maybe Lance was better with his attitude, but at one point early on he was dribbling like a maniac in the half court and you could audibly hear on the broadcast CP3 yell at him as loud as he could to pass him the ball. Lance passed it then threw his arms up and pouted of course.

Let's not say okay, let's say, with them we wouldn't be any better. Cause I don't know if this team is okay yet.

We'll definitely miss Biyombo. Our rim protection is gonna be an atrocity this year lol

Dallas will be fine. I doubt 50 wins and 45 might be a challenge but they'll have Parsons, Matthews, and Williams back soon and my man Zaza is better than people think. They'd contend for a second seed in the east.

Something to keep an eye on is they need a center and also have less cap space than most teams next summer. A trade for a center on a large expiring might both help the short and long term with Cuban never shy about clearing the deck. When Williams signed Harris became more expendable.
