To help the offense, Al needs to step out more and hit that midrange when our guards drive.

Yeah I think that's the plan. Part of the thinking also takes Al into consideration and I'm sure Clifford and Cho would likely discuss it with him if it ever came to that. He's not suited for this offense in the first place and being the 4th or 5th big would be bad for morale and unfair to a vet who could be more productive elsewhere in his final contract year. Besides they'd want a defensive big at that point.

That's the challenge with Al. The team needs him to unclog the paint but in reality if the team needs that then they have better options on the roster and so far they're more efficient scoring in the restricted area when he's off the floor. In order justify his minutes he has to distinguish himself vs the other bigs in defensive rebounding and the occasional blocked shot.
