Steph Curry appears to have discovered the difficulty sliders for the NBA....

He's the best. There's no answer to him for most teams.

This season might end up the best offensive season of all time or top 3.

I think he's gonna average 30+ and win the scoring title if he keeps this mentality. There's no stopping him.

Its so easy and effortless. And at only 6'3. There's nothing left to say really. NBA defense is his bitch.

Minutes. One aspect that already made his numbers last year appear less impressive than they actually were. Let's see if he keeps this mindset going but it's true, Curry being this assertive could push his averages tremendously.

What I really like, though, is his awareness on the court. Less dumb plays, better recognition of traps and his passes seem to be even more on cue. Even if his scoring remains the same as last season: in case he manages to reduce his turnovers to like 4/P100P while maintaining his playmaking, this alone would be great for him as a player.

I feel like I'm watching the best offensive player the game has ever seen. Am I crazy for thinking that?

The most casual 50+ points game you'll ever see. At this point, It's like he's saying "hello. Oh btw, I'm dropping 50 on you. Bye". Unreal.

What a first week It's been. I wouldn't surprised if KD and Russ retaliate by dropping 120 pts on the Nuggets tomorrow.

I never met a player I loved and hated so much at the same time.

I love him for being awesome, in everyway, on the court and off the court.

I hate him for absolutely killing us. That wasnt even fair. every 5 seconds "ohh, we are gonna make a comeback"

1 minute later

"curry hit 4 3 pointers in a row!"

not even suprised at this point. I think the Pels will be a western conference power this year, going ahead of memphis.

but at this point, playing against curry on fire is, offensively speaking, is basically the same as a loss.

whats funny is that it went to a point where with about 5 hands in his face, and falling down, I was shocked when it hit the rim before going in.

He's the antithesis to all the NBA defensive principles that has been designed to stop Lebron (the previous best offensive player in the league).

All these drop and ICE pnr defenses and needing a rim protector are things he takes advantage of. Blitzing him with mobile bigs and guards who are hard to screen is the only way to really defend him. Funny thing is those Miami teams with Battier and Bosh are the only modern team that really defended that way. And that's because their wings Bron and Wade were great in the passing lanes and among the best shot blockers at their position.

So, point of note for those who think he's gimmicky:

8/14 from 3, 11/11 from the line.... 9/13 beneath the arc. Yeah, 9/13. In the paint, out of the paint, at the rim, baseline jumpers... A little bit of "you can't guard me, sucka" from everywhere tonight.

I can't justify putting him over the man responsible for that but he is around as good as virtually anyone else offensively at this point. Easily one of the GOAT offensive primes in the making.

he's just pushing it further and further and further still. I dont know who can beat the warriors if he keeps up this aggression.
Except maybe the Thunder or Cavs playing at near maximum potential

Yeah I'm not sure about best overall, but he's probably the most skilled offensive player ever. Nobody's had his level of shooting/ballhandling/passing combined.

Its just dumb. It literally looks like he's playing with little kids but he's the smallest person on the court.

How have they played New Orleans twice in three games to open the season?

The NO. 1 thing about curry's dominance is that you cant let him get his and stop his teammates like you could with 2009 lebron or 1991 jordan because you have to defend 30 ft away from the basket as opposed to around 18 or 22 feet like in the LBJ or MJ cases and unlike other players that could shoot like ray or reggie his ball handling and excellent touch allow him to get to the rim and finish which gives him the largest " concern map " for any defender to cover

Quite frankly it's because of the absolute potential of three point shooting. The farther away you are from the rim the less help you can get without the doubling leading to open shooters on the wings. But since his expected EFG% on shots from that far is about the same as an elite finishing guard, he's essentially taking layups without having to worry about any help defense at all. THe 4 on 3 effect of him being doubled is greater too than a person taking a layup or posting up since the 4 on 3 effect can have a player in the paint as well as 3 other guys at the three point line.

Spoiler:
Curry's Bonkers mode is better than any other ATG scorer's mode. He's polished his floater up to maximum luster. Simply put he can get up a high percentage shot from literally anywhere on the field, and if the defense sells out to stop him, he can make the pay via his passing

He hasnt hacked the game, he's essentially made an entire new metagame, like what happened to Super Smash Bros Melee

This is the basketball equivalent to when Barry Bonds started taking roids.

I wonder how much of this has to do with Nash's guidance. His approach to defenses is much different

On his first day with the team, Nash showed Curry a couple of gems for reading defenses, and minutes later in a scrimmage, Curry was making the reads and completing the plays.

“I definitely see another level for him,” Green said. “I still think he’s just scratching the surface on how good he can be and how good he’s going to be, and it’s exciting, exciting to watch.”
