Re: General NBA Discussion Thread
Kobe, Lou, Young, the Lakers are just a big ball of hilarity. I like their Russell/Clarkson backcourt, but there is just too much other terrible stuff going on there.
And Randle had a pretty good game overall against a team that doesn't have much of a physical frontcourt, but he played basically 0 defense and was roasted on the other end by Dirk, Zaza and Powell. And Dwight Powell is starting to make some noise, too. He looks like he's going to be a pretty bigtime player pretty soon, which would be great for both the Mavs and Team Canada - frankly, he was good for Team Canada this year until he got hurt. He can ball.

The Lakers mostly run Princeton (Chin series) and Triangle actions, so they have some offensive structure. When they run Triangle it's mostly N2T to PP with Kobe at the pinch post and they play a 2-man game off of that or N2P to AZSC and the guard making the zone speed cut will down screen for the big at the "freeze" spot (normally Randle who's on the weakside) for a foul-line jumper. It's when guys like Swaggy and Lou are in the game that their offense tends to stall because of their ball-stopping nature and the fact that they don't understand the basic patterns of the offense to maintain continuity. Kobe's been setting a lot more screens on and away from the ball which has helped their offense somewhat, but he's jacking way too many 3-pointers when he pops after a 12 PnR with DLo.
Basketball is like poetry in motion, cross the guy to the left, take him back to the right, he's fallin back, then just J right in his face. Then you look at him and say, "What?" - Jesus Shuttlesworth

Kristaps just had the dirtiest put back slam on LMA. He has really quick hands on defence and doesn't back down. Kawhi is still personally burying the Knicks though, he'll be an all star this year, easy.

Harden finally found his rhythm. Nailing step back jumpers.

3 former Raptor point guards playing in this Nets-Bucks game plus Jose down the road playing for Knicks. Some really bad guard play going on in the boroughs tonight. Vasquez is ridiculously bad so far this season.
When will we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals?
Please advise….
