Long time listener, first time caller

Post#1 » by stan francisco » Tue Oct 20, 2015 2:55 am

I bleed Purple and Gold, decided to finally join.

Here's where I stand:

Russell: A future hall-of-famer and living highlights reel. Genius vision and skill. Explosive scorer. Once in a decade level talent. Might need half a season as NBA starter to adjust to tempo and be effective.

Clarkson: Dwayne Wade light, with a Ray Allen type of mindset and temper. Star.

Bryant: Always preferred him at the three, I'd predict the highest FG% of his career, as well as highest career APG this season. Can't wait to see him shut the doubters up. Not dead yet.

Randle: Five parts Charles Barkley, three parts James worthy, one part LeBron James, one part Ruben Patterson. Beast mode engaged.

Hibbert: Perfect role player center for this team, including his flaws. Good roster fit. More inside-out, please, he's a better passer than he gets to show.

Huertas: Will give us more value than we had hoped from the Nash signing. Steal. 6MOY

Williams: Instant and constant offense. Nick Young work-ethic booster and repl when traded.

Black: My favorite Laker sub last season.

Bass: Excellent pickup. Solid, consistent player. Plays both ends. Experienced and smart.

Upshaw: Give him substantial minutes now, responsibility, meaning. He's raw but good enough.

Nance Jr: Mad Dog Madsen, but with talent and athleticism. Blue collar energy booster. Brings much needed attributes.

World Peace: Will get warm around April, contribute solidly in the playoffs.

Young: Deadly scorer when in the zone, chucker always. Defense should always be consistent if you expect to shoot that much.
Unless d improves, trade piece after ASB imo.

Kelly: The more he mixes shooting w head fakes and drives, the better he'll execute his stretch four role as a shooter.

The rest I'm not so invested in.

Prediction for 2015-16: Lakers will surprise big-time, make the playoffs. Slow start can be expected. D-Lo will develop leaps and bounds. Scott remains coach for duration of season, proves in playoffs he needs to be replaced. We make a small but significant trade including Nick Young at the TD.

Long term vision:
1) Hire Coach K in 2016
2) Hire Scott Brooks in 2016
3) Hire Thibs in 2016

After that, go after Durant. Promise him the keys to the city.
Don't know yet who I think the other big FA signing should be but long term pipe dream: somehow make a master trade of master trades for Unibrow.

WELCOME TO THE REALGM LAKERS BOARD!

nice to see some INCREDIBLY OPTIMISTIC rich man scenarios, but i have to say i'm sorry, but we ain't making the POs

the west is still the wild west, and our team still needs its own identity, which won't be happening this season, as we'll probably try to play with some mixed play given kobe and hibbert being large parts of this team vs the youth revolution

I don't really post anymore, but I had to log in and comment

I don't know if this is the funniest or the stupidest thing I have ever read

From calling Russell a future HOF and implying that he's gonna play at that level after a half a season
To comparing Clarkson to DWYANE WADE AND RAY ALLEN
Saying Randle is FIVE parts Charles Barkley, THREE parts James Worthy and throw in a little Lebron James on top, ladies and gentlemen, we have the greatest player in the history of the universe on our team

I'm not even going to continue going down the list, I'm just dumbfounded

Oh wait one more, I thought I loved Huertas more than anyone, I've been following this guy for a long time, but you just predicted hes gonna win 6moy lmao

Nice our starting roster consists of:

Future Hall of Famer
Dwayne Wade/Ray Allen Hybrid
Barkley/Worthy/LeBron Hybrid
Prime Kobe
Prime Hibbert

and 6 man of the year off the bench.

The sad thing is I can see a lot of fellow casual fans actually having these beliefs. Be a little more realistic, the future is looking slightly brighter but we are still awhiles away from being relevant.

Could be another troll account as well, been seeing a lot of them pop up lately.

Thanks for the warm welcome, guys. Yes I'm very optimistic for the Lakers going forward.

Is it common here that people change or make up or misquote what someone said and then ridicule them under false pretenses?

frozt, I fixed some misquoted detail below:

frozt wrote:Nice our starting roster consists of:

Future Hall of Famer Yes, I believe DLO will be a HOF one day. You don't have to agree. Uniquely special eye for the game, will be a deadly scorer, too. Not yet, but I think he will break out this season.
Dwayne Wade/Ray Allen Hybrid I said D Wade LIGHT (similar style of play) with RA mindset (similar demeanor)
Barkley/Worthy/LeBron Hybrid I never said that. 5/3/1 parts respectively and you forgot to mention 1 part Ruben Patterson. Plays bigger than his size, bullrushes his way through the court like Barkley, is collected and business minded like Worthy, has speed like LBJ while being a very good ballhandler on the fast break (one part), tenacious ball magnet like R Patterson, a force in tight situations.
Prime Kobe I never said that.
Prime Hibbert I never said that.

and 6 man of the year off the bench. I did say that, although Sweet Lou may take it from him.

Which ones? The ones I stated or the ones you made up?

Be a little more realistic, as in comment on the real post, not made up stuff by you, and your future will be slightly brighter. Who's trolling whom?

And yes, I do believe this is who we have on our team even though some development may be long term. 18-10-4-2 isn't out of the question for Randle's first real NBA year. Did Barkley and Worthy do much better than that in their first or even their second season? Not an NBA historian myself. Think I'm too optimistic about Randle?

What makes Russell a once in a decade kind of talent? I haven't seen anything from him that personally excites me.

And scrap everything you said about Randle...he has only played three games and you're already comparing him to greats. That's flat out disrespectful to those guys.
