Not too upset about this loss. Hawks is a very good and well coached team that's been together for awhile. Thought we lacked some energy but other then that we had enough looks to win without the offense working smoothly. Spo is still working out a rotation while the franchise is showcasing Chalmers. The situation makes us stumble a bit more then necessary but it will work it self out.
The question from the start was always if we're the 40 win team everyone projected or closer to the 50 win team we hope? After losses to Cavs and Hawks who in all likelihood is better then us, who's to say? but for a intriguing seasonal outcome, I think the positives by far has outweigh the negatives 4 games in. Answers we've got: Hassan was no fluke and is fantastic while still having things to correct, Wade looks better then in 3 years, Bosh, outside of missing some shots, looks energized and even rebounds/blocks the ball! Winslow looks promising and the first thing for a rookie on a team trying to win games is to stay on the court aka be a net positive player and grasp the defensive principles, check.
While the outside basketball world is starting to realize who Hassan is we're just staring to get to know Tyler Johnson who we also found on the back alleys. A two way guard that should play 20 min a game on this team. Just need to free up some minutes, see Chalmers. Green is not the best all around player but we need shooting and he compliments Winslow and Tyler well of the bench and it would surprise me if this doesn't get sorted out for the better.
Trouble ahead? Big-man rotation, it looks awfully thin after our two main guys and right now Spo prefers to play Hassan/Bosh as the C's and have Winslow/Deng as PF's. I don't blame him. It's been a little ugly on this front to start off the season and we'll need options here for the long haul.
Statue should never ever play on this team. Hassan, Bosh, McR, Bird, Winslow, Deng are all better at both the PF and C, Bird still works fine with Bosh in a pinch but not with Hassan, best as a 4th option, that leaves McRoberts. I think he's been pretty good defensively actually put offensively it been a disaster and it's hard to say why. Ball sticks and he seems to lack confidence right now. My guess is that he will find his footing when the rotation is worked out and he feels more comfortable. He's not this bad and the track record points to that. Still, it's a bit concerning.
on to the next one.
